Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

TGIF peeps!

Way behind, but wanted to pop on and wish everyone a wonderful weekend!

dimndgal1, thankful that your surgery is behind you, and wishing you a speedy recovery  ... and you certainly have incentive with your Disney trip on the horizon..it will be fun planning along with you. :flower3

ADRs... CP breakfast, word is its good, we're only been to dinner, we liked CG and we felt the character interaction was great (not rushed at all). We love PT 50s for all the food and shenanigans. :) but would you DD like it?

Wookie, Happy birthday to you and Joey!! :cool1: We have yet to see Saving Mr. Banks... we hope to see Frozen this weekend. (and happy that you are feeling better). And you have some great resort choices. :thumbsup2

Miss, pizza and ice cream sounds like a great way to celebrate with Miss M.!! (and I believe Gelato IS on Via Napolis menu ...somethign like $8)

Koh, congrats on finalizing the GF trip!! :yay: Will put you on the list. :)

Pas, are we still at the beach, Universal and BC CL? I'm slipping a bit with all your changes. :goodvibes And so it's the Grand in 201_?? :)

Waving Hi to Ginny, Marie, Sheila, Candace, Dani, Heather, Kook, Sparkly, and anyone else I've missed. :)

letthewookiewin - so sorry you are dealing with the flu!
BWI looks amazing - it was actually my first choice for our last trip but DD has a weird clown thing so we went across the lake to YC. I like the idea of BWI being in the midst of the 'fun' of the Boardwalk!

Wonderland tea party? Not the same as the Princess one is it? It looks so nice. I know the Princess one comes with an AG doll so it's SO expensive. Tea party sounds like a lovely treat for your DD6 to have Mama all to herself ;)
I would LOVE to do that tea party but DH is very leary of the price. I had heard there was a different one with Alice and the Mad Hatter... I think it's only an hour long. Going to need to get my Google on! Maybe can convince DH to do the other one when both girls are old enough to enjoy it. :goodvibes

If your little ones are into Disney Jr, we really like the Play and Dine breakfast or lunch at H&V. Usually not as crowded as other character meals which means multiple visits from the characters. They recently changed to Sofia & Doc McStuffins in place of any Little Einsteins and Agent Oso. Jake and Handy Manny are still there. I'm on the fence with it for our upcoming trip...

Love the puffed French toast at CP breakfast!! :-)

YAY! Oldest DD loves Sofia and Doc and littlest ends up watching some of both with her sister. Nothing against Einsteins and Oso but I think the new faces will go over better. Which meal would you say is 'better' at H&V? I can see hitting some of the E-ticket rides and then doing lunch if that's better overall... decisions, decisions!

THanks so much! So glad surgery is over and beyond grateful DH is such a hands-on dad (He's intercepted a lot of needy kids the last few days).
Thanks for the info on the restaurants. I love good character interaction (Garden Grill is one of my faves!). I'm thinking DD would love the shakes at 50's Diner if nothing else... she's so tough to read! :scratchin

mousemommy - I think I got lost somewhere in the past pages... where are you currently staying? I saw some mentions of changes but thought it would be faster just to ask.

No changes here!!! I have kept my GF ressie for almost 2 months now! It's happening. :goodvibes

Glad you're doing well after your surgery by the way!

Well, today was fun. On my way to work, I'm in the Dunkins drive thru getting my coffee, and all of a sudden my VTM-4, VSA and ABS lights all light up on the dash.... (mind you I had just made our annual car insurance payment of $969 before leaving the house)

I'm thinking, crap. What's this gonna cost me? Never mind, I also needed an oil change and to also pick up a part that was broken when I was rear ended at Thanksgiving...so, I take the car to the dealership. It ended up being a front wheel speed sensor...:confused3. And the repairs would be $306 (including my oil change)....not a huge amount, but again had just paid for the car insurance and need to make a payment to Disney...

And then I remember....didn't I buy the extended warranty??? :scratchin
They check the computer, make a call and BOOM! The repairs are covered (minus the oil change) :thumbsup2

And, when I picked up my car, the installed my part without charging for labor and they gave me the $26.95 oil change for $17.95 :dance3:

I walked out of there and only spent $17.95. I was so happy!!:yay:

Thank you. I saw Frozen with my sister before she moved to VA. I love it too.

The Boardwalk just looks like so much fun and that's what this girls only trip is about. Luckily, the planning has been going really easy. Since this is the first time we are going on a trip like this together, we've been doing a lot of talking and I've made sure to make a list of must do's and things we absolutely won't do. So far, there is nothing on either of our must do lists that is on the other person's absolutely won't do list.

Wow, good thing you remembered about the extended warranty, and that the warranty covered the work you needed done.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello before I head to bed. A lot has happened since I was on last. JM turned 15, and I turned 38. The DH took me to see Saving Mr. Banks and Salt Grass for dinner for my birthday. I seriously already had a tear rolling down my cheek before one word was spoken in the movie. I basically teared up anytime Tom Hanks was on the screen and totally lost it in the DL scenes. I didn't feel good the day we went out, but went any way. Then I really got sick and have basically been down with it since. The mil is pretty sure the fil and I both had the flu. I feel almost totally normal today.

Oh, my girls only trip, a lot has changed as well. The third person that was coming, the one with the two year old, isn't coming any more (although I'm not sure she has been informed about this yet). Since we don't have to worry about room for 3 adults and a toddler, we have been doing some RC scheming. The finalists are.......WL and BWI. Although, if we could make it work we would totally suffer through CR TPV. :lmao: We will be spending most of our time at the MK and Epcot, so we feel it makes sense to stay at one of those resorts. I would like to make BWI fit the budget, since I have never stayed there. Plus once I saw videos of the lobby, and rooms, the clown pool isn't scary and creepy, it's charming and adorable.

pixiedust:pixiedust: happy birthday!! We are seeing Saving Mr Banks Sunday!

:wave2: hello & hugs to everyone! Haven't been around much, busy around here.
:yay:this time next Friday, I'll be in my hotel room in Seattle, after having dinner at Cheesecake Factory :goodvibes hopefully getting a good night sleep for our very early flight to FLL Saturday morning. Have to be at SeaTac by 5:00am so up at 4:00 AM  good thing hotel is only 15 min from airport, and no traffic at THAT hour!

Howdy

Too much to comment on....y'all have been busy, I see :thumbsup2 posting and making plans! Hope everyone is staying warm. Supposed to be really cold today. The boys are going to the hockey games this afternoon and the girls are going to have a Girls Night Out!!

Contemplating adding a day or two on our June trip. Of course I haven't mentioned this to DH, as he's not going to be overly excited :upsidedow Waiting for just the right time to bring it up

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Heather

THANK YOU!
So bummed to hear about your car but YAY for warranties! DH makes fun of me because I often get the extended warranty but so far it has paid off on our big purchases (if for no other reason than electronics usually include cleaning and cars include maintenance).

Beyond impressed you have held onto your resort!!! I realized I have had mine since before Thanksgiving but I think it's because I was so distracted... now that I have lots of hours to sit I keep jonseing for a change. So far WL seems to be sticking, though... and I might have convinced some friends looking to travel that same week to book at the WL Villas - our kids are off school 1 1/2 days that week so it's the perfect time to yank and go in the off-season. It would be fun to meet up with the family for a meal or ride but still be 'separate'.

I think if DH and I ever get an adults only trip we'd do BW - I love the idea of nightlife being RIGHT THERE. And it's great you have an amiable group - hard to plan when half the group must do ABC and the rest won't do.

I love that we have to 'prep' the husband for Disney. When we originally talked out trip, we were going to go SoG... then I caught him in a good mood and we moved on property. He promotes this spring so I am hoping I can convince CL is a necessity. :rotfl:

------------------------------------------------
Slowly but surely becoming more mobile! DH took the girls to see Bao Bao (the new panda) at the National Zoo yesterday which was great - they got out and had fun and I got lots of rest. Today the dressing finally comes off and I can enjoy the greatest feeling in the world: post surgery shower! I' almost as excited about that as I am our upcoming trip!!! :hyper:

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend and keep on changin'!

This time tomorrow we'll be on that plane :banana: Sunday I hope to be :beach: getting some sun for a couple of hrs anyway, before I go see mom.

So I'm still dancing around the idea of changing from our standard view at RPC at GF to RPC theme park view. I think I've mostly decided to do it, but I'm kind of stalling because I think this is likely my last change to make for this trip, and it's still basically a year away!! How will I survive if there are no more changes?? Anyone else put off a change for that reason?? ;-)

What about switching to the deluxe rooms in RPC? The extra space is nice too. I recently stayed in my first RPC and spent much of our time in the lounge areas but when in our room we loved the extra space of deluxe king. Check out K&A&C'S mom pics on 1st page of gf thread.

I don't know of another tea party...? You can do breakfast at 1900 with Alice and Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Pooh and Tigger...?

We kinda liked lunch at H&V but others have disagreed. Breakfast is pretty much the normal buffet...if you hit a late breakfast ADR, you might actually be there to grab a lunch item or two as well.

Trying to decide if we do HS on our last day since they have EMH and that means the Disney Jr. dance party which DS always likes. If DD is awake, she'd probably enjoy it now too.

I love the Cheesecake Factory!! I always either get the chicken and shrimp gumbo with brown rice (for some reason it seems less spicy with brown rice) or the Sheppard's pie. My favorite cheesecake is the Red Velvet Cake Cheesecake. Have a safe and fun trip.

I think if DH and I ever get an adults only trip we'd do BW - I love the idea of nightlife being RIGHT THERE. And it's great you have an amiable group - hard to plan when half the group must do ABC and the rest won't do.

That's what I was thinking. Plus we're going to spend the most time probably at Epcot. We want to really explore all the countries really well and especially their shops. We are probably going to do the Behind the Seeds tour at Epcot as well. The person that was going to be the hard one to schedule with is the one that isn't going now.

Slowly but surely becoming more mobile! DH took the girls to see Bao Bao (the new panda) at the National Zoo yesterday which was great - they got out and had fun and I got lots of rest. I'm glad you are getting around better. The National Zoo is one of the many things that I want to see when we go visit my sister in the Summer of 2015.

Anyone else put off a change for that reason?? ;-)

I'm the same way. It's like when you make that last change, the planning part of the trip is done. I enjoy the planning almost as much as the trip itself. I try and put off any changes that I know will be set in stone, for as long as I can.

This girls only trip is really looking like we're going to have a blast. We are more than likely going to do the Behind the Seeds tour. Then we are going to rent a pontoon boat one afternoon for about an hour from the Poly or the GF. We're still looking for fun, and inexpensive things to do that we wouldn't normally do.

Good Morning

Holiday for us today, but not too much lounging around; have tons to do :upsidedow

Sue - Since you are headed to POR, here's an early morning photo just for you. Wish we were going to be able to get down there to see you again. Hope y'all have a fabulous trip!!!

Koh - We've done breakfast and dinner there. While it's been years since we did dinner, we probably wouldn't go back. If you are strictly going for the food, you might want to find another option. However....if you are going for the princesses, then it wouldn't be a bad choice :thumbsup2 And the Banquet Hall has a very nice atmosphere. JMO, of course :teeth:

Wookie - Behind the Seeds tour is a :thumbsup2 Even DD loved it and she was only 4 or 5 at the time. TONS of interesting information!

Candace - No changes!! :thumbsup2:dance3: So proud of you. KEEP that GF ressie. You'll love it !!!

dimndgal - Of course CL is a necessity, isn't it?? :confused3  DH always gives us grief about CL, but once he's there... he loves it.

jewels - I totally get your "waiting to change" thing... It's always fun making tweaks to our plans. In fact, I'm doing it today! Have to add some dining ressies that my parents said we must do ;) Haven't mentioned it to DH, yet, as he will go into the "this trip is nickle-and-diming me to death" mode.

To anyone I've missed
Hope everyone has a magical day!!!
Heather

Thanks Heather for your opinion on Akershus dinner. :-) Right now I have breakfast that day at Chef Mickey's then to Epcot with dinner at Akershus. I can always switch it later. ;-)

Morning Peeps! :)

Sue, So close now! Hoping the week flies by for you. :)

MM, thankful that your extended warranty covered the repair. Always a nice feeling when you expect the worse and get this kind of surprise. :goodvibes And congrats with sticking with GF.. is this a record? :upsidedow

Wookie, well we didn't get to see Frozen instead we opted for Catching Fire as DH wanted to see it (second time for me and fifth for Sam.. can you tell we are huge Hunger Game fans? :goodvibes ) Hopefully we'll be able to see Frozen in 3D this week.

Heather, :wave2: Always love to log on and see a morning photo from you. :)

dimndgal hope you had a nice loong shower! :goodvibes

Koh, We had dinner at Akerhaus in 2012 and we had a really nice time. Great princess interaction (and very relaxing). The menu used to include several ethic dishes (which I think was a deterrent for some people) but this had been changed prior to our visit....now there is only one main Norwegian entree. I feel it is definitely worth it on the DP. :)
