Just an FYI, I have always advocated (along with many OP's) that cash is not needed in Disney. We got caught twice this trip.

- Dinner at the snack bar in Fantasmic ($60 worth of hot dogs, drinks and pop corn) no room charge allowed)

- Jellyrolls, no room charge allowed for admission or drinks

It was a little embarrasing

Thanks for letting me know. I wouldn't have had any cash on me either.

I'm surprised about the snack bar at Fantasmic. Did they have regular cash registers or just cash boxes? I've used my room charge at the snack bar on Sunset Blvd. Is Jellyrolls owned by Disney?

Jellyrolls will take a credit card...even for admission only. We used AMEX there in October when we were there for a convention with a bunch of DH's customers.

Needless to say...there was a heck of a lot more than admission charged that night! :hyper:

Thanks for posting - hope it wasn't too awful for you.

I knew about JellyRolls - it's not owned or operated by Disney so as you found out, no using your room key to charge things. Kind of like at the restuarants in the Swan & Dolphin Hotels.

Didn't know abouyt the snack bar at Fantasmic, though. Surprises me - that place should be hooked into the system. Wonder why it isn't?

Kind of a let down to be back home, isn't it?

Best wishes -

Add that little ice cream shack by France in Epcot. Electric registers, but cash only. Whoops.

It surprises me that these places don't take the room charge. They never mention this or give information stating such when they ask if you want charging priveleges.

We always use cash, but get charging priveleges just in case.

None of the little Kiosks in Epcot take room charges or credit cards. I went to epcot one day for a couple of hours with my daughter on our last day to pick up something and stopped at several to get something to drink. I didn't have any cash, just my room charge and they all said cash only. Pretty annoying.

This is good to know. When we were at WDW last summer we used our room cards for everything. I'll make sure we have cash for JellyRolls when we go in May. Annmarie

They must be standalone cash registers, not wired into the system. You would think all the business they do at Fantasmic they would wire them in.

I know the souvenier cart in front of the American Adventure takes room charges, I always buy pins there. You would think those little carts wouldn't be wired in.

Not only is it a let down, but this is the first time in 4 years that I don't currently have a reservation in hand for my next trip:(

This is true for every park. We learn this the hard way last summer and from now on, I make sure I have some cash on hand in case we just want a drink, ice cream or anything else that might not be "on line".
