~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

I was only Eight when I rode Carousel Of Progress the first time--but have ridden it subsequent times. This one is a true gem to me and means a lot. I just hope that it stays b/c it is so popular :)

Hello!! Sorry I have been MIA, I love your attraction of the day it is soo cute! School has been nuts so I'm way behind but it's vacation at the school where I teach next week so I will be catching up asap!! :thumbsup2

Can you guess what I'm going to say right now?

I don't have a memory! I'm going to start to cry soon lol Heading to the gym now but I'll text you after I'm home and shower and stuff :goodvibes

I always joke with my mom that one of my prerequisites for a husband is that he loves Disney. Well, we were on COP in December and sitting just a few seats down from us was a guy (who looked to be a few years older than me?) and his girlfriend. She was nodding off the whole time, but he was on the edge of his seat grinning and mouthing the words. Plus, he was CUTE.:lmao:

As we exited the ride, I whispered to my mom "see, now THAT'S the kind of guy I want to marry!" and we busted out laughing. :goodvibes

Same exact thing happened to us in December! It never got fixed though. We'd move then break again. I figured WTH....I started taking pictures of the thing. It was always one of my favorites and I didn't have a single pic. I took a dozen or so. The kids were so mad that we wasted so much "ride" time. Me and Sidney loved this though and thought this was one of those "fun" memorable experiences. :lmao:

Hey good idea to take pics! Might as well entertain yourself somehow!

I do like it too! Just not 3 times in a row!

I figure the cure for THAT song stuck in my head is to hitch a ride on IASM!!:lmao:

Haha...Oh I don't know...

Aw hun. It's okay because you know what? We're going to make awesome memories for each of these next year and then we can play this again!

Attraction of the Day...

The Carousel of Progress

So everyone who's been on Carousel of Progress knows that it rotates as you switch scenes...well as we are starting to move to the next scene-it comes to a screeching halt-LITERALLY it was screeching and then came to a stop. So we were all looking at each other like what do we do now? And then....then scene that we had just watched started again! :headache: So everyone was like "GGGGGreat!" People started getting up and as they were walking someone came over the loud speaker "Please remain seated!!" So then after the scene was over for the 2nd time, we waited to start rotating and we weren't moving! :scared: So we had to watch the scene a 3rd time!!! By this time, everyone was saying the lines along with them and singing "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow shining at the end of every day...there's a great big beautiful tomorrow...just a dream away!" finally after the 3rd time, we started moving again!! Everyone clapped and cheered. But we held our breath after each scene and hoped we would start moving.

Dude, the same thing happened to us once too. It was hilarious because a guy in the next room would yell "EVERYBODY!" just as the song started up again...and again...and again.... And everybody would sing along! It was great! :lmao:

Random unrelated CoP memory: I ordered a gift basket from Disney Florist for my aunt, and it was supposed to be delivered to the resort (AKL! :woohoo:). Well, we ended up switching rooms so that we could have connecting doors, and I called down to the front desk to make sure the basket would be delivered to the correct room. They put me on hold and I got to hear "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow." Don't tell anyone, but I was totally jumping on my bed and singing along. :rolleyes1

Only in Disney, right? :wizard:

Haha that's hilarious-both stories. I can totally see you doing that!

Attraction of the Day...

Test Track

This happened on our '08 trip so it's taken from my TR. This was the day that we decided Epcot hated us because it was pouring all day:

Finally, the rain had cleared! We walked out of the gift shop and could hear the TT cars going by overhead. They had started?! We saw people getting in the fast pass return line and decided to get in it because our time had passed. It was a pretty long line, but we didn't care. Soon, we noticed we weren't moving anywhere and looked up front and the doors to TT were closed! People started going up to the CM's and asking what the deal was. We heard someone say that the CM's said that TT is still closed and the reason cars are going by is because they have to get all of the cars back in sync with each other before they can begin loading again. Soon the stand-by line was going WAY past us and soon we couldn't even see the end! By this time, everyone decided to start sitting down. And this is when we came to the conclusion: Epcot officially hates us.

We sat there for who knows how long. Soon, people in front of us started leaving. We were working our way up to the front and sis and I told mom that we weren't leaving this line unless the CM's tell us that TT won't be open for the rest of the day. People kept leaving....and finally when they opened the ride, we were second family in line! :woohoo:

Hello, lady!

Just subbied, so I'm in!

Attraction of the Day...

The Backlot Tour

So we're standing in line, waiting to go to the pre-show area where they have people volunteer to be "extras" in those scenes on that boat...and a CM comes out and asks the family right in front of us if anyone would like to volunteer! The guys in the family said yes right away! So they go with the CM and a few minutes later, we were allowed to proceed. We were in the front row and remember-we're right next to the family that volunteered. It was so much fun watching them react to everything the guys in their family did during the whole pre-show. They were laughing, taking pictures, telling them things to do, cheering for them...you name it! It brought a smile to my family's faces to see someone having so much fun!

You know the earthquake scene when you're in the mountains and the water rushes down? The first time I rode this, some man help his toddler OUTSIDE the cart so he'd get wet under the stream that comes down overhead. Really? I wanted to take away his rights to be a parent.

I miss the old version of this ride, though. I used to love seeing the house sets for TV shows and the other extras they had. It is way too short now because of the Stunt show (which I'm not a fan of; bring back the old ride, instead!!!)

Aw hi! :goodvibes Glad you're here!

OMG poor baby!!!! I would've said something, haha.

I do miss the old version where you saw the house sets too! My B/F never got to see them so I'm sad about that.

Ditto; when we went on our honeymoon, I kept talking about it because I didn't know they'd changed it. DH didn't understand what I'd been so excited about when the ride was over.

My Test Track story is that we waited atleast 2 hours for it when it first opened. It was the last day of our trip and we really wanted to do it. Of course it broke down right as we got to the front of the line but luckily they fixed it. It's funny because Dad says that it was amazing how patient we were since it was something we wanted to do. haha

On our trip in May there was this group of college-age kids in front of us. Some of the guys ended up in the same car as us and it was obviously their first time on the ride. When we went in the hot/cold chambers the one guy said "That's wicked hot!" or "That's wicked cold!" You should have heard them screaming as we were out on the track. Needless to say they really enjoyed the ride. Gotta love seeing other people's reactions. :)

I don't think I really have any over-the-top memories from Test Track, but I do from the Carousel of Progress and I missed yesterdays! I loooveeee the Carousel of Progress! It's so simple yet completely unique and a ton of fun. I saw it for the first time on our trip in 2005 and was completely amazed... I had read about the theater spinning but it was cooler than I'd even expected. My parents also loved it, and when we went on it again in 2007 they sang the ENTIRE time! Everytime "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" came on, they were singing and clapping along, louder than anyone else  For two people who were skeptical about even going to Disney back in 05, they sure do love it now! :goodvibes

First time I rode Test Track was back in 2003. Apparently I wasn't too bright, because when we were headed towards the wall... I thought we were actually going to crash! In the ride photo, I am actually bracing myself with my eyes squeezed shut. When my family saw it, they made fun of me for the rest of the trip. Of course, they bought the photo and love to show it to people.

"Remember the time when she actually thought the ride was going to crash?":lmao:

But... I DID!

The Imagineers pulled one over one me!

OMG that is too cute :goodvibes

No particularly interesting memories but it always makes me laugh as my little sister gets so excited on it. She is just mad about cars, despite being a 12 year old girl, and has been for many years. So on TT she spends he whole time squealing with joy, especially the fast bit

Test Track!!!! I love Test Track - its the best! DD7 loves it too - the fast bit at the end is fantastic!

The last time we were there DD7 sat in the middle of Dh and I. She is a bit of a joker and loves to indulge in the famous bunny ears behind people in pictures.

So at the moment of the pic DH and I made them behind her head.

When we got to the pictures her face was a picture! She was so mad and did not see the funny side at all! Well eventually she did but it took a while!!! Needless to say we all thought it was funny and the people in the back of our car were killing themselves laughing at her reaction.

We promised not to do it again!;)

Alright, 2nd family in line! It doesn't get much better than that! I bet it made the long wait somewhat more tolerable. ;)

For the longest time the only people in my family who would ride TT was me, my aunt, my uncle, and the older one of my brothers. Well, the one time we got my mom, dad, and second brother on it, the ride shut down due to rain. DAunt, DUncle, DM, DD, and younger DB rode in one car while older DB and I rode in another car. We ended up being several cars apart because of the way the queue fell. My brother and I got trapped with this Asian family who couldn't speak a word of English and just kept giggling nervously every time we stopped. We tried to reassure them, but I don't think it did much good.

As for the rest of the family? They came to a dead stop on the banked section of outside track in the rain! Mom still refuses to ride after that, and our poor brother (who was just eight or nine at the time) was fairly traumatized for a couple years.

My other brother and I couldn't help but laugh though. :rolleyes1 Especially when they told us about how they were all sort of squishing each other because of the leaning track. :rotfl2:
