That’s pretty much it for Pop pictures, up next – finally a trip report!:cool1:

Cool pictures of Pop Century! Looks like a fun resort.

It really is, I don't know if we'll ever stay anywhere else.

You took a lot of pictures of POP. We never even made it to every decade. Now I wish that we did. Great pictures!!!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My SIL did most of the work - I still haven't made it to the 50's myself.

yay!!! Building 10 in the 70s section was my fav!! I had always requested that building bc of it's location. Even with a standard room ressie, they were always able to put me in that building! Looks great, can't wait to see where your room was!

You'll find out in my next update ;)

Great pictures! Can't wait to see it in person in 33 days!!!

Pictures don't do it justice - you'll love it!

We're in! Love the Pop pics! I'm with you on the whole Hot tub thing too! Or at least a few Jacuzzi suites! :D

Great pictures. We stayed in Pop Aug 2007. It was sooo hot we didn't do as much exploring as we would of liked, but loved what we did see.

I wonder why they never finished the legendary years at Pop. :confused3 That's so cool though how you could see SSE and TOT!

They stopped building all of Pop because of 9/11. Then as tourism picked back up they finished the Classic side, and rumors are abound with what will happen with or when they will finish the other side. No one knows at this point.

Thanks for the Pop pictures. Such a beautiful resort. I know it's a value, but it's still WDW....

Wow, those pics of Spaceship Earth and ToT from POP are neat!

I thought so too - I'm glad I knew where to look this trip.

Yeah - now I know why the trip to DHS is so short :rotfl:

Yep!

I really like it - more so than the moderates that I've seen - though I'm sure I'd like them too.

I promise to actually get started on this report tomorrow! It's been a busy week!

Departure day 10/25/09:

Our flight was scheduled to leave at 10:45am on Sunday and we only live 5 minutes from the airport, so our plan was to take a cab. I had called ahead and scheduled a cab to come at 8:45 to pick us up – remember this later.

I was off on Friday and of course had Saturday to get things done, so we were ready to go when we went to bed Saturday night except for the things we needed the next morning. Maddie went to bed well that night – excited to leave. I went to bed pretty early for me (10:30ish I think), but didn’t sleep great. I kept thinking I was forgetting something important. :rolleyes1
We got up and ready at 6:00. Doug went and picked up Tricia at about 7:00 and brought her back to our house. I realized when I got up that morning that we were almost out of cat food and that I needed to mail a get well card and we were out of stamps. :headache: So at 7:45 I ran to the store to get both those things and mail the card. Good thing we got up early! By 8:30 we were all ready and anxious to get going. I had Maddie check off the final day from our countdown calendar:

From then on Maddie was asking about every 5 minutes when the cab was coming. :rolleyes1 It finally got to be 8:45 and I started looking for the cab. I had called at 8:15 to confirm, but just got voicemail saying the lines were busy (when I called the day before I got someone on the first ring). So I had left a voicemail saying that I just wanted to confirm the cab, gave them the time, address and phone number. It was getting closer and closer to 9:00 and the cab hadn’t shown up. I called several times and kept getting the same voicemail – and I left several messages! :confused3 Finally at 9:05 or so – we made the call to just drive ourselves. We left the keys to my husbands truck and some cash out for my IL’s – we called and asked them to get the truck when they could from the airport. They have keys to our house, so this was no issue. It’s a good thing we live so close, because this turn of events didn’t effect us at all as far as catching our flight. We got to the airport in plenty of time, had no issues checking our bags and made it through security just fine. I think we had about 20- 45 minutes to wait to board the plane. I had given Maddie a Disney mP3 player for the trip. I got it on clearance after Christmas last year and was going to give it to her for her birthday – but decided it would be perfect for the trip! Here she is listening to it at the airport:

Here we are in our matching sweatshirts:

At about 10:15 our flight boarded and we were on our way to Chicago on time – yay! :woohoo: We got to Chicago with no issues and had a 3 hr layover. We went to the area where our gate was located and there was a food court, so we had a nice relaxing lunch. Maddie listened to her mp3 player, colored, we took a couple walks. Doug kept up with the Packer game on his phone, my SIL read her book. Our flight left for Orlando at 3:20 – and that had no issues either. We arrived at Orlando’s airport at 6:45 as scheduled! I forgot the layout of the airport, so we went to the wrong side for Magical Express – but we found it eventually. Within minutes of finding it we were waiting for our Magical Express bus!

Doug is thrilled :rotfl:

Love the way you organized your pictures. Nice job! I especially love the shadow boxes because I really wanted to take those pics and never got around to it! :thumbsup2

10/25/09 cont....

We didn’t wait long for the bus – maybe 10 – 15 minutes at the most. Here’s Maddie on the bus:
PA250009.jpg

She remembered the video from our last trip - so she was anxious for that to start, but it doesn’t come on until after the bus leaves airport property, so I got several questions about that. :lmao: I did strike up conversation with the lady sitting across from me. She was by herself, but meeting friends that she had made when she was a young girl in Girl Scouts. They were all turning 65 that year, so they planned a girl’s only trip to Disneyworld! How fun is that! :goodvibes The bus was stopping several places but Pop Century was first! :thumbsup2 I didn’t write down what time we arrived, but I’d say we were at POP within an hour of landing. It felt so nice and warm – the weather in Wisconsin had been so cold and damp during the month of October – so we were ready for some heat and sun. :cool2:

We checked in and everything was set. I had faxed in a room request that we would like connecting rooms, building 4 in the 60’s – fireworks view (meaning lakeside and 4th floor). Our room assignments were 4244 and 4245 – connecting rooms, building 4, 2nd floor facing the lake. So 3 of 4, and considering we wanted connecting rooms and didn’t check in until almost 8:00pm, I think we did really well! I really liked our room location. :woohoo: We were super close to the pool, not far from the elevators, and close to the main building. 2nd floor was a bit noisier than 4th (from toilet flushing) but nothing that affected our sleep or anything. We didn’t have a good view of the lake from our room because of a bunch of trees, but those trees kept the sun from shining in bright in the morning – which was nice on the days we started later. :cloud9:

We got to our room to get settled. I called luggage services for our fridge from the swap and they found it right away and it was in our room within 15 minutes. :thumbsup2 Maddie sat down do write in her journal for school about our day.

Then we decided to go swimming since it was so warm and Maddie had taken a nap on the plane. We hoped to wear her out a bit, because we had an early morning the next day and we wanted her to be able to fall asleep. The water felt really warm, but it was cold getting out once wet.
PA250015.jpg

After swimming, we got dressed and headed to Everything POP for dinner. I forgot to take pictures (we were hungry) but I got the Chicken Penne pasta Alfredo with water and a cookie, Doug had the Turkey foccia , Maddie had pepperoni pizza and chips and Tricia had a veggie burger, fried and carrot cake. We also purchased our mugs when we went to dinner.
I don’t remember what time we got done with dinner, but we went back to the room to settle down and try and sleep. Maddie was still wound up and it took her until 11:30 to fall asleep. Not so great when we have a 6:00am wake-up call coming. :scared:

Next – Cinderella’s Castle and Winnie the Pooh! pooh:

I know what you mean!

Great pix... your SIL really got into the spirit of things! She got some great shots.

Kathy

great start! :thumbsup2 wow....11:30? even i go to sleep earlier than that in disney world! i'm sure she was running on adrenaline. hope the next day wasn't too terrible as far as her being tired. can't wait to read about it!
