Our Halloween Pop adventure trip report 10/25-11/1/09 Animal Kingdom #3 6/28 pg.19

nice update!!!!!! I'm with your DD, I enjoy boxed Mac and Cheese as well. Germany is an "okay" restaurant for me. My parents took us there a few years ago and I think I left eating the pretzel bread and apple dessert. Dbro and I went there the night before I moved from FL to OH and I enjoyed it much better although I'd rather eat at other countries but it was a quick decision and we were able to get in and Dbro is in heaven with German food so well it all worked out the 2nd time around!

Can't wait for more!

Great update! The picture of Maddie dancing is really cute. I didn't know they had that clock in Germany...so many little gems in the parks!

Sounds like you had a fun first day! Can't wait for more.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I probably wouldn't have noticed it either if we hadn't walked out right on the hour

I love all incarnations of mac and cheese myself - it would be easier if Maddie did too princess: I'm hoping to get another update done this weekend. :wizard: :surfweb:

Great update and beautiful pictures! Biergarten sounds fun, but I'm not sure my kids would like the menu. I'll have to plan it for another adults-only trip!

Onto Day 2 – Tuesday, October 27th

We woke up around 8:00am and took our time getting up. Our plan was to get breakfast from Everything Pop and then spend some time swimming. It was another beautiful day, so I was looking forward to enjoying a nice breakfast by the pool. :beach: Doug, Maddie and Tricia were ready before me, so they went ahead to get their breakfast and I was ready not long after. On my way to Everything Pop – I spotted an available table and put our towels there to save it. Doug, Tricia and I all got the breakfast wrap (so good!) and Maddie got Mickey waffles and sausage. I had read on Dis that someone drank half coffee and half hot chocolate, so I decided to try that in my mug. When I was putting the hot chocolate in (after my coffee) a guy (who I guess had watched me fill with coffee first) says “You know that’s hot chocolate right?” I told him yes and his wife goes “Haven’t you ever heard of mocha – duh?” :rotfl: It was pretty funny! Anyway – if you like mocha – I would recommend trying that combo it was good. I’ve hear a lot of people complain about the coffee on property, but Tricia liked it and had some every morning in her mug and I liked it in combo , so I’d at least try it before ruling it out.

After our breakfast, I sat and relaxed at the table, Doug and Maddie went swimming and that’s when Tricia went around go took most of the fabulous Pop pictures that I posted in my first couple of updates. The week we were there was Wisconsin’s version of “Jersey week” it was state teacher’s convention, so I knew of at least 3 families that were going to be at Disney the same week. One was staying at Pop – but as big as the place is and with so much to do, I really didn’t think we’d ever run into anyone. So as I was sitting at the table enjoying my coffee and the beautiful weather, I noticed Doug talking to a lady in the pool and Maddie playing with a girl. I looked closer and it was the Mom of the family that was staying at Pop and her daughter. :thumbsup2 We had gotten to know them because her two kids and Maddie went to a preschool program together. Her husband had a trade show to do at the beginning of the week, so during the day she was on her own with the two kids. Those who read my pre-trip report may remember my swine flu stress, there was a big outbreak in our school district during the month of October – they even had to close the high school for two days because there were so many kids out sick it wasn’t worth having class. :scared1: Well, my worst nightmare had come true for this Mom. Her daughter was sick the week before they left and now her son was sick while they were there , it was their first trip to Disney and her husband was at work! She held it together amazingly well! Luckily she had paid for a preferred room, because they were facing the Hippy Dippy Pool, so she could take her daughter swimming while her older son was in the room, if he needed her he could just come out and call for her. So it was really fun for Maddie to have her friend to play with at the pool, but I felt bad that it was because of those circumstances :sad2: . Here’s a picture of Maddie at the pool that morning, but I blocked the friend’s picture since this is a public board and I didn’t talk to the Mom about posting it.

Around 11:00 we went back to the room to shower and rest. We had Maddie lay down, but it was too early for her to sleep. We had a reservation at BBB for 2:30 at DTD, so we headed to the bus around 1:00pm. We got to DTD by 1:30 and looked around a bit.

Then we decided to have some lunch. I had planned to try either Earl of Sandwich or Wolfgang Puck Express since I had heard great reviews of both. I knew that Maddie probably wouldn’t eat much at either place so we left her with Tricia, while Doug and I went to McD’s and got her a Happy Meal. Then we met back up with them. We went to Earl of Sandwich first but it was packed so we headed to Wolfgang Puck instead.

Doug had the roast beef and gorgonzola pita pocket, I had the Pesto Chicken Salad foccicia and Tricia had the California sandwich and fruit.

I love this new photo-op... This is the first time I'm seeing it. I'm assuming it's near the new make-your-own-T-shirt store...

I wanted DH to pose for this picture, but he just said, "I'm sure NOBODY poses for that. That's not why they're there." :sad2: Now I can show him this and say I told you so! :rotfl2:

Mmmm...love Wolfgang Puck Express!

Looking forward to hearing about BBB!

Park Day Two – Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! princess:

After lunch we headed over to the World of Disney for Maddie’s appointment

PA270193.jpg

Maddie was a bit grumpy this afternoon, I think she was hot and a bit tired. It was at this time I realized that my schedule could have been much better. I wanted to try the DTD BBB because we had gone to the castle in 2007. We loved the castle, but I had heard good things about DTD and thought it would be neat to experience both. The problem with this, as it turned out, was the travel time. Because we had to get from Pop, to DTD, to MK – I had to make the appointment at 2:30 – so we had to leave Pop at 1:00 – 1:15, not giving Maddie time to rest. She doesn’t nap at home anymore, but Disney is different and we were planning on staying up late at the party. If we had gone to the castle instead, I could have made the appointment at least an hour later and there would have been much less travel time. Oh well, lesson learned!
So we headed in for her appointment and she started to cheer up:

PA270161.jpg

Her Fairy Godmother in training was very nice, but needs to learn to be a bit more gentle when combing the girl’s hair up into the ponytail:

PA270162.jpg

PA270164.jpg

Poor Maddie, her eyes just filled with tears, which almost caused mine to do the same thing. She was a trooper though and didn’t complain. A couple of the photopass pictures showed her wincing so much, I couldn’t even bring myself to upload them. It’s partly my fault, I brushed her hair before we left Pop, but should have done it again right before the appointment. There was a little breeze and with the humidity, her hair obviously got snarly again.
So the makeover progressed and Maddie wasn’t having quite the experience I had pictured in my head:

PA270165.jpg

Once the ponytail was in, things started to get better:

PA270166.jpg

Like I said the FGIT’ing (whose name I can’t remember) was very nice and worked hard to engage Maddie in conversation:

PA270167.jpg

She picked the Disney Diva and picked blond hair, the FGIT’ing did kind of ask me off to the side if I should offer her all colors and I said sure, but Maddie picked blond and not blue or pink.

PA270169.jpg

Now she’s having more fun – thank goodness!

It may have been worth the tears:

So if you ask Maddie she had fun, but compared to our experience in 2007 it was not nearly as good. Besides the hair issues, the vibe in the place was strange. When I looked around, most of the girls were looking more somber than excited – I don’t think it had much to do with the FGIT’ing – they were all very nice, I think it was more the heat and time of day – I think there were some tired girls. For me also, compared to going to the castle first, this BBB seemed really small. If we were ever to go again, I think we’d do the castle – but I don’t know that we’ll do it again. I don’t know when we are going to go to DW again – and with Maddie having done it twice already, I don’t know that I’d do it again with her being older. We’ll see – in a few years, I may have a different opinion.

Next will be the photoshoot! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35048656&postcount=162

I am not a big fan of BBB, but your DD came out AWESOME! I mean AWESOME!!!! the FGMIT did a great job.

Sorry about the timing, heat, nap..2nd time around factor and doing it at WOD......
