Day 3: Epcot

This was EMH day at Epcot. We actually manage to get there by 8:00 a.m.! Yay for us!

We enter the park just in time for the character bus to unload. They were everywhere! DD and DS are really into the autograph and picture thing. I am so glad because if they weren't, I would just have to force them and that wouldn't be nearly as much fun, LOL. We got probably 5 or 6 before they had to load up.

Let me say right here that Epcot is the park I had done the least amount of research on. Not great for us! We really had no idea what was even open for EMH.

We walked around and decided to do Spaceship Earth. DH and I thought this was really cool, but kids were pretty unimpressed. DS was expecting a SPACESHIP, not a world history lesson! Oh, well. He got over it.

Next, we got a fp for Test Track. Hey! Cool! We got a bonus fp for Maelstrom.

By now, Innoventions was open so we went inside. I think it was the east side. The kids played on the computers a little and DD, who was feeling very internet-deprived by this time, sent a "D Mail" message to a friend back home. Then we all sent one to my sister. We checked out a few more exhibits before DD declared that she was now "smart enough and ready to go".

Too early for our fp so we head into Electric Umbrella for some breakfast.

Finally it's time for TT! We walk into the fp return line, only to find that it has been shut down for a little while, due to technical problems, so the fp line is about a 30 minute wait. Oh well, we're here now so we stay. This was the longest wait we had for any ride all week, so I guess we can't complain. I must say that this was the only queue area that I found boring. DD agreed. DH, on the other hand, thought it was great. Of course, he is an engineer in the automotive industry! Finally we get to ride and we all had fun. I just wish it were a little longer ride.

Afterwards, we found our way to Ice Station Cool. I go through last and manage to keep a straight face as my whole family tries Beverly. Their shock and horror had me, and several people behind me, laughing so hard we were in tears! DD says, "That one's from Italy? I bet that's what Mussolini drank. Beverly was probably his mother!" LOL
I actually liked all the others. I wish they had them available to purchase.

On to Body Wars. Basically, the same ride as Star Tours. I find it odd that they warn you about this being "an intense thrill ride". I really do not get it. One thing that kept DD and I entertained was the little girl behind us. She was about six. She was not scared, but trying to pretend she was. At one point she screamed, "Oh No! Not again! Not again! Not agaaaain!", and then she giggled.

World Showcase is now open so we decide to use our fp for Maelstrom. I guess we were expecting something along the lines of TT, since it is a fp ride. Boy were we surprised! It was OK, just nothing exciting. Check out the gift shop and move on.

We do pretty much the same in China, Germany, Japan, and Italy. By this time, we decide we are just not really enjoying this park so after grabing a bite to eat in Japan, we decide to head out and maybe come back later.

On the way out, the character bus stops again and the kids perk up! They get the remainder of the characters from this morning, including Minnie, my DD's favorite. While waiting for Minnie, DS gets attacked by Baloo, who steals his autograph book and tries to take his place in line for Minnie! He "tells" us that he loves Minnie and wants her autograph for himself. It was very funny.

When the characters leave, so do we. We head back to CBR for some down time. As it turns out, while DD, DS, and DH are napping, some major T-storms roll in and stay for the rest of the day and night. So no more parks for us that day. It was just as well. I think we needed the rest.

Next: EMH at MK and hop to MGM

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!

Hi there ~ I am really enjoying your trip report :)

Funny you should mention not enjoying EPCOT ~ this is also a park we just can't get into. My DD9 insists she hates it and does not want to go there.

I am determined to give it another chance ~ so many people love it ~ so I booked at resort within walking distance and I planned a scavenger hunt for the world showcase ~ hopefully we will love it this time - if not ~ I give up!

HoneyPots, thanks for the great trip reports!!! I am really enjoying them especially since our older 2 kids are the ages of yours. Last trip we didn't see much of Epcot and are hoping to spend more time there since we can walk from our resort on our upcoming trip. In October it's open later than the other parks, so we're going to try to tackle all the worlds in the evenings.

It's good to hear about older kids still enjoying the characters. My son will be 10 when we go and I hope he enjoys the characters still.

Enjoying your report...Looking forward to your next posting.

:) Thanks
Denise
