Our First Poly Vacation! April 14-21, 2012 - Live Report

That's great it was ready for you at 7am! Just out of curiosity - did you do the online check-in or wait until you got there? Also, had you requested Tahiti specifically?

I checked in online and during that process was given the opportunity to log in expected arrival time which I noted as 7 am. I dont think that's the entire reason why our room was ready and I'm sure luck and occupancy level this morning had a lot to do with it. I did not request a specific building as I wanted to increase the chances of our room being ready. I just requested either a patio or a balcony. We got a patio first floor room.

Hi Dave, checking in on Saturday and leaving on Tuesady. How are the crowds at the Poly?

Glad to hear you are having a wonderful trip so far!!!

How would you rate your room condition at the Poly?? I think that's my biggest fear about having our first stay there, with all of the reports of the rooms being "run down"....with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, how would you rate your room and why?? TIA.

I'll preface it by saying that I am overall very and extremely happy with our resort choice. The walk to and from GCH was absolutely gorgeous and the views of MK were great! Everybody's very friendly.

If I'm just focusing on the room condition, I would give it a 6. Some small things I had to call the front desk for. But nothing major that detracted from the experience. Doesnt feel brand new, but not too run down either.

Thanks for the honesty!!! Well, I guess I'll look at that as better than average...:goodvibes

Thanks for the updates so glad your are enjoying the Poly. That's great your room was ready so early :thumbsup2

How was your dinner at Ohanas' ? We are looking forward to trying it for the first time in June.

Hey Dave can I chime in (since we're here in Tahiti right now too, just on the 3rd floor) I would give it a 7.5, the room is beautiful, the grounds are stunning, but only 1 night table to be shared with both beds. Water pressure is low, pillows are really firm and fat, but the beds are super comfy and the building And grounds are stunning!! It's very quiet and peaceful. Location is spectacular. I would stay here again, just for the location and transportation.

That sounds GREAT! We requested Tokelau with our travel agent but when I did on-line check-in last week I didn't add any further requests. I did put in that our expected arrival time would be 10:30am so I'm hoping with fingers crossed that our room will be ready so we can get a few hours sleep before HS and Fantasmic that night! :woohoo:

Loving my solo tour of late nite MK! Waiting for the second MSEP to come by in Liberty Square. Got some nice pics but won't be able to share with you all until I come home since I can't download my camera pics to my iPad.

Thanks for that!!!! Glad to hear your impressions. :goodvibes

Just had strawberry shaved ice treat fom Japan to cool off while sitting at the top of the garden - away from the crowds and very relaxing.

Loving your report! Just like being there...almost!!;) Your impression of the room at the Poly was similar to our take from this past September. But, like you I was super thrilled to be there and my family overall really loved it! Can't wait to hear more!popcorn::

Just returned from our full Epcot day.*
Started with an 8:10am ADR for Akershus. As it looked like we were not going to be able to finish our meal before 9am, I left a little early at 8:47am while rest of family finished their meal so I could head out to Soarin and on the way dropped by to take some pics of the now closed TT.

I must have timed it perfectly as I was able to walk into the Land pavilion and there was absolutely no one there besides the cms who all greeted me. Felt like a VIP! Got our FPs for Soarin and I walked back out and saw the swarm of people heading towards me. We did Character Spot and two rides of Soarin using rider swap then headed to Nemo where the line was unusually long - perhaps because of TT closures?

I did feel bad for a lot of people who had no clue that TT was closed. I redirected a few families when I heard them planning a trek across the park to TT telling them about the refurb.

We had a lot of fun at World Showcase as well in the afternoon. I love how you can pace the touring for this part of Epcot anyway you want it. We spent a lot of time at the Japan and China areas. All the flowers and topiaries were gorgeous!*

We capped the day off with an Illuminations Cruise for DW birthday which was a surprise gift for her. Everyone loved it. The kids stayed awake through the fireworks. Our captain was very friendly.*

Thanks for the updates so glad your are enjoying the Poly. That's great your room was ready so early :thumbsup2

How was your dinner at Ohanas' ? We are looking forward to trying it for the first time in June.

It was also our first time at Ohana and we loved it. :thumbsup2

Seasoning and sauce flavors are definitely "island flavorings" with a lot more sweet than salty so depending on one's palate you could love it or hate it. We thought everything was great. The best part was the dessert which was the bread pudding. It was sooooooo good. I made sure not to over do it with the meats to leave some room for dessert.

What a great birthday gift with the Illumiations Cruise perfect way to end the day.
Still can't believe TT is closed
Loving all the live updates thanks for taking us all along.

I can't wait for Ohana! In all of our visits we have not eaten there, but we will have my birthday dinner there in July. :goodvibes. Glad you liked it. Food pics?
