I am getting the tent! He'll love it!

As for Magic Mom's idea... I will be setting it up in the basement, if I can figure it out But, even if it takes me a couple days, DH won't know... he doesn't go in the basement, because that is where the laundry room is!

I might also do the other thing she suggested...

Oh, and the map idea is a great one for the "paper" portion of the gift!

We walked by that same tent today in Costco and DH was like, "hey, for my birthday, that's a hell of a tent."

And I see you are in Livonia, so I am assuming you saw it at the Costco at Schoolcraft and Middlebelt! I am calling them now to put one on hold!!!

I think a tent sounds perfect. Pair it with plans for a romantic camping trip and you are all set!

I agree... perhaps with a couple of small presents useful to a "romantic" weekend! Champange... or a nighty LOL

I have found that men do not view presents the same way women do.

I think the tent is a GREAT idea. If it was something he was excited about and you both enjoy camping, it's a terrific gift. I love practical gifts. I'd rather give something that would be used on a regular basis and something they'd really enjoy rather than something "sentimental" that may end up gathering dust on a shelf somewhere.

Yes, men tend to really like practical gifts, and gifts they can do things with, vs. sentimental (only) gifts. Since he was really enthusiastic about a specific one, you found the right gift.

I think the tent is a great idea.

My 10 year anniversary is on Thursday & what do I want? Nothing. What have I wanted in the previous years? Nothing (the same for Christmas, Mother's Day, Valentines Day, my birthday, etc...).

My dh & I buy things thru out the year. This year our money was spent on a bathroom remodel (fully gutted bathroom to boot). We also just got new tile thanks to the flooding we had 2 months ago & because of that we had to put in a sump pump/drainage to the road so sadly (LOL!!!) all of our pack a sandra (sp) got ripped up by my neighbors back hoe. I think that was the best gift of all.

Two years ago, we bought a DSLR & a new video camera & went to WDW.

For us, we don't need/desire gifts. We would rather have things that we can use in our every day life or from time to time/useful stuff then useless junk.

No, he's not, but all I have to say is, always remember to NEVER speed as you go under the train tracks between Plymouth and Schoolcraft on Middlebelt, and there is always one sitting on ONE of the on-ramps of 96! EEK! (I speed too! )
