Our fave chain restaurant closed

I was never fond of Don Pablos, but I was surprised to see that the Friendlys were closing. Ours here has already closed.

The Friendly's near us are expanding.. they seem to do good business all the time.

The one in Whitehall across from TJ Maxx?

Wow. Now that Barnes & Nobles is gone, is it a ghostown in that area?

Per the Morning Call last week, the Don Pablo in Palmer/Easton was still open. If the Palmer/Easton one closes, what choices for Mexican are left?

ours is also closed down :sad1: I just noticed a few days ago that the signs are also down.. Im sad to hear this as this was one of my favorite places to eat.. Im in Texas

Chic-chi's still exists. When you come to Belgium, you'll be able to eat there! That is, if you don't indulge in the chocolate or beer or waffles...

Mh dh and I were really looking forward to go going to our fave chain restaurant Don Pablo's this afternoon.

Imagine our suprise when when we pulled up and ALL the signs were removed, no cars in the parking lot , and a letter posted on the patrons and employees about the restaurant being closed. Don Pablos was our fave Mexican restaurant here...*sighs*

I wonder why they closed up ? I also wonder why it was done in such haste because I saw it was open no less then 4 days ago when I was going to work.

Has anyone else's Don Pablo's closed down?

Hi There!

I notice you live in Michigan and I do too. Not sure which Don Pablos restaurant you went too, but I have some good news! There is a Don Pablos restaurant that is still open here in Michigan :yay: . Not sure where you live in Michigan, but the Don Pablo's across from Lakeside Mall on Hall Rd is still open. In fact we drove passed the restaurant today and there were plenty of cars in the parking lot. The restaurant is in Sterling Heights or Utica? I know Lakeside Mall is consdired in Sterling Heights, MI. But I know once you cross M-59 (Hall Rd) it changes to Utica. You may want to give the restaurant a call if you need directions. Easy to find. The restaurant is located right across from the mall in a plaza next to Logan's, Macroni Grill, Panera Bread. I know the Don Pablos that was on Van **** and 14 mile is now closed.

Happy eating!!!

The EXACT same thing happened to dh and I when we were going to Chevy's, which was our favorite Mexican restaurant at the time. :headache: We pulled up, got out of the car, went to the front door, and it was CHAINED SHUT! There was a letter to customers AND employees stating it was closed permanently, effectively immediately, and final paychecks would be mailed to their home addresses. What a horrible way to find out you've lost your job, huh?:scared1: The one difference was that the signage was still up and remained up for more than a year. Finally, a bank bought the building. I still drive by that Webster Bank and think about Chevy's. :sad2: Sigh.

That's exactly what happened at the Don Pablo's near us. Truth be told though, I think they were having financial problems for years. DH did work for them about 8 years ago and it took almost 10 months for him to get paid. They kept on claiming they never got the invoice. :rolleyes1 Finally had to send it certified mail.

Awe!! I love Don Pablos! I haven't gone there much though since they took off my favorite dish, BBQ chicken buritos. Yummy! But the kids loved watching the person making the tortillas, and many times they would be given a ball of dough to play with while they waited for their meals.

Chi Chis though was terrific! You can't find their fresh salsa anywhere. Nope, it is NOT the same stuff they sell at the grocery stores. Blech.

I hope the Don Pablos I go to isn't affected. It's in Robinson Township PA. I'll have to take a look next time I'm up that way.

Chi-Chi's "fresh" salsa made many, many people sick and a friend of mine lost her husband when he got so sick from it several years ago in PA. Then they had the nerve to put a commercial on tv with her husband's name in it after he died eating their salsa. Long story but it ended up his liver failed. I will never buy any of their products.
