Our fave chain restaurant closed

Based on TV reports:

Don Pablos Lexington, KY abruptly closed a few weeks ago due to financial problems with the corporate owners. It is rumored that Old Chicago Pizza will be the replacement.
Don Pablos locations in Northern KY and Cincinnati will remain open.

On the Border in Lexington closed over a year ago, Macaroni Grill closed about 3 months ago.

I did not like to eat at any of the above locations anyway.

Ours closed down too. My twin and I drove past it last night and the lights were still on inside...it was kinda creepy! I'll miss their food even though I didn't eat there too much! :(

The one in Whitehall across from TJ Maxx?

Wow. Now that Barnes & Nobles is gone, is it a ghostown in that area?

Mh dh and I were really looking forward to go going to our fave chain restaurant Don Pablo's this afternoon.

Imagine our suprise when when we pulled up and ALL the signs were removed, no cars in the parking lot , and a letter posted on the patrons and employees about the restaurant being closed. Don Pablos was our fave Mexican restaurant here...*sighs*

I wonder why they closed up ? I also wonder why it was done in such haste because I saw it was open no less then 4 days ago when I was going to work.

Has anyone else's Don Pablo's closed down?

The EXACT same thing happened to dh and I when we were going to Chevy's, which was our favorite Mexican restaurant at the time. :headache: We pulled up, got out of the car, went to the front door, and it was CHAINED SHUT! There was a letter to customers AND employees stating it was closed permanently, effectively immediately, and final paychecks would be mailed to their home addresses. What a horrible way to find out you've lost your job, huh?:scared1: The one difference was that the signage was still up and remained up for more than a year. Finally, a bank bought the building. I still drive by that Webster Bank and think about Chevy's. :sad2: Sigh.

Ours closed abruptly about a year ago. It was my favorite too.:sad2:

Ours shut down the week before Christmas (:scared1: How sad for the employees!), but there are others in the Twin Cities area that are still open. DH and I were really surprised since the restaurant was ALWAYS packed, especially on the weekends!

Well, we do have a new restaurant going in at one of the strip malls in our development. Three Amigos. Small? Chain? I haven't a clue. But they'll become the new mexican restaurant for us. :teeth: And we could walk there! :teeth:

the same thing happened here with the chain 'ZAXBY'S' It is a chicken place. One day it was open and the the next there is a sign on the door that it had been closed due to non payment of taxes. It said it would reopen the following Monday and for all employees to return then. It never reopened. This was before Christmas. Those poor employees.

The Don Pablos in Whitehall closed abrubtly. I think the one in easton-25th St is still open.

Pin Wizard I have eaten at a Three Amigos in Chesapeak and it was really good.

We've got a bunch of those around here. Perhaps that closure was the franchisee? That is the only chicken chain that my DH will eat!

I agree, Chi Chi's was great. I miss them, but we're lucky in that we've got several really good mexican chains around here. Tia's reopened ONE restaurant on the north end of Tampa and we've got a couple of mom and pop places that are sooo good. Then if we want tex mex, we  Tijuana Flats.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this.

My dh literally morned its loss yesterday. lol He told me he wanted to sit on the steps of the restaurant and say that Charles Heston Planet of the Apes rant " You did it!!! $#@ you all $#@@ you all " etc etc... ;) :rotfl:

I wonder what's going to happen to all the ppl who bought gift certificates to it? :confused3

:lmao:

Maybe they can eBay them because the restaurants are in other areas?

Talking about Chi Chi's makes me crave the little side salads they did in the flour tortilla bowls. I loved the dressing.

My older brother was a manager for Don Pablo's. He worked at the one by the Orlando Airport. Luckily, he had already put in his 2 weeks notice because of a better offer. I believe the only 2 still open in the Orlando area are the one on IDrive and the one in Sanford by the mall. Trust me, it was not a good situation for anyone that worked there.

I know we were very sad a few weeks ago when we went there to eat and it was CLosed.
Then we seen on the news that they closed because of bankruptcy.
The employees made me so sad when they interviewed them they found out the day before the restaurant closed. So they found out the next day they were out of a job.

Ahhhhh I hope ours is still open :scared1:

Don Pablos was my Chi Chi's replacement too.
Although lately I have been going to a small local place because the fajitas are amazing and enough for two people easily. The margaritas aren't bad either :lmao:

We used to eat there often, but haven't gone so much in recent years. They used to have an awesome dessert, but once they eliminated it from the menu, I guess we lost interest in the place. Not sure if ours is still open or not.

Ours closed in Indianapolis a few weeks ago.

All of ours closed about 4 years ago. I liked it so I was a little disappointed.

I was never fond of Don Pablos, but I was surprised to see that the Friendlys were closing. Ours here has already closed.
