Are any of you collectors of gallery pieces?

I have browsed this collectors area and decided it was just easier to post a new thread.

I collect mainly Mickey stuff. That's my main obsession I 'spose.

I do have a bunch of snowglobes, although I have tried to stay away from them, once I saw the air bubbles starting. If they are 'Mickey themed' though I cant seem to resist, air bubbles and all.

Our entire Christmas Tree is Disney themed (mainly Fab 5 and tink, but I dont refuse other ornaments if they are offered freely) and if course I have the Tink Tree topper. (I love tink too)

We have a bunch of odds and ends, toaster, waffle iron, towels stuff like that. Ummmmm, what else? oh the Disney perpetual calendar thingy and I got the Mickey thimble collection last year.
Ummm lots of little figurines and bobble heads etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseum.

For our last anniversary my hubby got me a picture I had been drooling over for at least a year. I'm sure you've seen in the galleries, is the one that has Walts actual voice. They took his voice off old 8mm tapes and put it on a chip and when you wave your hand in front of it it lights up certain pencil sketches and talks. I absolutely love it.

Over the last several years I have managed to get all 6 of the Mickey Mouse Big Figs that have been made. Theres, 'classic walking Mickey', Two Guns (my fav BTW), K9 Caddy, Steamboat Willie, Fantasia, adn the last one is the 75th anniversary Mickey with the classic 'leg kicked out hands clasped behind his back' pose. <----this was also an anniversary present from this year.

I have the two animated sericels that have been made, one is Steamboat and one is Fantasia.

Oh and I have the Olzsewski Cinderella's Castle the was released and am anxiously waiting the 'Hub' to go with it.

I do have some pins, although I have tried hard to not 'go there'. I got suckered in by the 100 Mickeys and have that whole set, and I mainly just buy the ones I really like...never trade, just get what strikes my fancy and go along my merry little way.

Just wondering if there's anyone else out there that likes the same stuff I do.

Hey, I collect disney things, not the same things but an addict none the less. I have to keep my collections cheap because I can't afford the other. Somehow I manage to still fill rooms with stuff. My main disney collections are Mickey/minnie head Antenna Balls ( I love my pumpkin mickey head, sorceror hat, and Christmas hat ones!) and yes, I am a pin collector. For a while I collected beanie size stuffed eeyores but kind of got out of that. I think the Walts Voice print would be terrific to own too. Welcome, you will find a lot of other collectors here, they just aren't as vocal as the pin traders! princess:

:) yeah, I always did the less expensive stuff till I got married. My husband spoils me rotten. Bad thing though, because we are far from able to truly afford these things.

Most of my collection had alot of happy meals toys and little things I would pick up here and there. He's the one with the champagne taste.

We go to Disneyland every year at New Years and thats when we buy the bulk of our Christmas stuff (everything is 50% off starting the day after Christmas) so every year we buy a bunch of ornaments (and he started buying the Toontown houses then too....we love sales ;) ). It's kind of fun, because we get home, pack them all away and then the next year when we are putting up our tree, its like little presents, we get to use for the first time what we bought the year before. We always make sure to get one special ornament that is dated for that year. We have one for every year of our marriage, so those are really special to us. And so far we have always been able to find one thats really really perfect. For example, last year (2002) is the year we bought our first home, and when we were at Disneyland at the Christmas shop the day after Christmas, I found one that had Mickey and Minnie poking their heads out of a doorway that said "Our first home". It was perfect! I took it down to Main street and had them put the date on the back. It's the little things that thrill my soul, honestly.

I love the antenna balls too. I know I dont have them all by any means, but I have maybe 30(?). I have them 'arranged' in a flower vase and I used skewers (wooden ones, like for shish kebabs) and they are cut to different lengths, so its like a 'mickey head' bouquet.

I would like to get into the pins, but I felt so sick to my stomach when I realised what I had gotten myself into with the 100 Mickeys. We went to Company D (before I realised they were numbered on the back) and they were 1/2 off. So I grabbed as many as I could see that were different. I did pretty well, I managed to get about 75 or so out of the 100. (which looking back now, is really good, considering I was just going by sight and was going really fast....I tend to get a little crazy in that store, its just not healthy for me to go there) It wasnt until later that I realised I would have to complete the set and that I would have to pay full price for the remaining pins (I only realised they were numbered when I got them back to the hotel that evening, had I known I could have taken more time at Company D and made sure I got them all (or at least all I could). But we only had one shot at that store during our trip, and our remaining days were spend scouring the stores and venders for the rest of the set so we could complete it. (it really took some of the joy away from our vacation, I assure you) THAT was the first time I saw that Mickey picture (the one I described that talks) and I was literally sick when I realised how much money I had spent on those pins, and for LESS I could have had something I truly wanted. It just made me ill. By the time our trip was over we lacked 5 pins, so we bought them on e-Bay once we got home. I now have the complete set and they bring me no joy whatsoever. I want to sell them, I just figured I would wait till I got them all framed and displayed nicely, I just figured they'd sell easier that way.

I do have SOME pins (maybe 40 or so other ones) but I usually just get them if they reach out and grab me. LIke at WDW we got a Mickey one that represented each park (EPCOT, MGM and so on)
I love the ones with Walt on them, and my hubby is particualrly attracted to the Herbie the Love Bug ones (he has, I think, 3 maybe 4?)

None of them are displayed. I need to get some shadow boxes one day and do it right.
