Our Biggest Celebration Surpise Trip Ever!!! Update 8/21

I will start from the beginning of the trip and go day by day.
Saturday-I don't think the kids slept, they were up before me and my husband. I wasn't planning on leaving the house until 4 am, but because everyone was up and our dog was going nuts, we decided to leave about 3:30 am. This got us to the airport about 4:15, so we had to wait until 6:15 to start boarding. They had an honor flight leaving before ours, it was neat to see all veterans. They starting boarding our flight, since my DH and I were in loading zone 1, our kids also got to board with us. The plane took off on time and landed 5 minutes early. Once we were off the plane our first stop was the bathroom lol. We then made our way down to ME went thru the checkin and to our line straight out to a bus and we were on our way to BC. DD20 thought she had figured it out, but she wasn't sure since we had told them we were going for lunch.

The bus stopped at POP first, DS15 started to get off, but told him to wait because we were going to lunch first. When we arrived at BC, we went in and I found the CL staff member to take us upstairs. When we got on the elevator DD20 said "I knew it". LOL, she didn't know the whole surprise, neither did I. Once we were checked in we went to our room, we were on the 4th floor. After checking out the wonderful room, we decided to get a bit to eat (you can read about that on the prior page). We then took a nap, boy was that nice after being up since 3 am.

When we got up, we decided to head to DTD for Dinner at Earl's. We timed it just right, the place was almost empty, but by the time we were done eating there was a long line and all the tables were full. We love Earl's! After dinner we walked around for a bit, went back to BC and went for a swim, then off to bed early.

Up next our day at Magic Kingdom

Love the update. Keep it coming. :) I'm sad though I can't see the pictures for some reason. Go figure. Did you do online check-in? I was wondering how you ended up with such a great upgrade. :)

We made our adrs over the weekend for our Moms Only Trip in January/February. :cool1: They include Grand Floridian Cafe, The Wave, LeCelliar (lunch), Teppen Edo, Kona and Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch). GFC and The Wave are new to us as we have neither been there before. Do you have any experiences with either?

Looking forward to more updates when time permits. I realize life just gets in the way of Disney sometimes. ;)

Think I fixed the pictures, that is what I get for organizing them LOL. We did not do online check in, we were booked for club level and told we shouldn't do it. I am guessing we got it because of our celebrations (birthdays and anniversary)

I haven't been to any of the resturants on your list, but we are looking at doing Teppen Edo, let me know what you think of it.

:thumbsup2 on the pictures! What a wonderful upgrade!!!!! I'm thinking about CL. Our last trip 10 years ago we did CL and it was really nice being able to go down and have breakfast in the morning. That's the only thing I don't like about the BC, that they don't have a true counter service restaurant. I realize Hurricane Hannahs and the Marketplace are there but our youngest DS likes his eggs and bacon in the morning. :rotfl2: As for Teppen Edo, we have ate there three times before. We really enjoy it but I really don't think you come away from TE extremely full. I've read many on the boards state that they have these sort of restaurants near them and it is cheaper and you get more food. Just a heads up. We only frequent this sort of restaurant at Disney so it works for us. Oh, and the green tea pudding is very good. I skipped it last trip but sampled my friend's and it was very very good. I'll for sure order my own next time. :)

Today was our Magic Kingdom day. We were up and out the door by 8:45 am, arrived shortly after rope drop and went straight to Pirates by going thru the shops on main street to miss the people. From Pirates we did Mountain Railroad, splash mountain and head to small world. When we got off Small World we looked at our watches and see it was only 10:30. We walked around for awhile in the shops, bathroom breaks then we seen there was no line for the tea cups, DD20 and I were the only ones brave enough for this. We then decided to go to Poly for lunch. Got on the monorail and went to the Poly, they have the most awesome Pork sandwich, we went back later in the week to have another one. We then went back to the resort to rest and swim. Around 4 or 5 we decided to head back to magic kingdom. When we got there we went to Cosmic Rays for dinner, it was ok, love the topping bar. We then went on Buzz, tried to get on Space Mountain but it had a 90 minute wait and fast pass time was to far away. We we waited in line for Pooh's Hunny Pot's-that is an hour of my life I will never get back. Then went to Snow White, another ride I won't need to try to get on again. We then walked around, thru some shops and watched the light parade and headed back to our room. It was another early night for us! Tomorrow is a relaxing day!!!!

How did everyone handle the heat this trip? Since its been awhile since we vacationed in the summer I'm a little concerned. We plan to relax/swim in the afternoon so that should be an incentive to make it through the morning. :rotfl2: The pork sandwich at the Poly sounds good. On our trip this past January/February we managed to make it to Captain Cooks for tonga toast. It was good but I don't have to do it again. Hah. Did you indulge in the dole whip machine while you were there? ;) Also wondering if you gathered many fastpasses for later in the day although it doesn't sound like it on this MK day.

When we go to Disney it is normally the same week, they did pretty good, but it has been an unusually hot summer at home to so we were kind of use to it. We always go early and leave around noon to swim and rest then go back in the evening. I think that is all my family could handle. The pork sandwich was awesome, we have plans to go back next year on our Epcot day for lunch, we will take the monorail over and hope to hit the dole whip machine, we didn'tany on this trip. The only fast pass we did was for Buzz, we got them, went to eat supper and by the time we were done we got right on Buzz. The only long line was Space Mountain and had I thought about it, would have got fast pass before we left for lunch

Sorry for the delay, life always gets in the way. But on a side note, my friend Diann, came down this weekend. Started with the Jason Aldean Concert and last night we did some disney planning for next years trip. We ate way to much food, but for desert we set up a Goofy Candy bar with chocolate to dip and different candy and nuts to roll them in. We had banana's, Rice Crispy Treats and pretzel rods.
On Monday, we planned to just relax after the weekend. We laid by the pool for awhile, but then it started to get cloudy. So, we got cleaned up and took the bus to MK and got on the monorail, first stop was CR. We walked around checking it out the resort, gift shops and checked out Contempo Cafe. Once we were done there, we went to the Poly, did the same thing, I think we had lunch again here. And then again at GF. Once we were done, we went back to MK and got on the boat to WL. Once we were done, we got on the bus to head towards POP. We then made our way back to BC. We rested for a bit, then went back to the pool for awhile. We weren't really hungrey so we went to Beaches and Cream for ice cream. Had the No Way Jose and shared it with my husband. The girls each got a banana split, they should have shared one, they are HUGE. DS got a hamburger, he is always hungrey, and then eat the rest of the banana splits.

Disney planning is the best isn't it!!!! :cool1: As we've made our adrs for our January/February trip there's nothing to do but wait! Darn.

Of the resorts you visited did any of them make you want to stay there someday? I keep working the numbers for our summer trip next year - split stay with Pop (cheap me) 2 nights and the BC for 4 nights or BC for 5 nights or BCV for 5 or 6 nights. UGH. I'm thinking too much. I have a hard time making a decision. One decision that has been made though is we won't be doing the dining plan. Our youngest DS(13) is a picky eater. He doesn't get his money worth out of the dining plan so we will just pay as we go. I don't need desserts with every meal (although I love them) and my DH is also not a dessert lover. I'm saving money now and purchasing Disney gift cards for food already. HAHA!

Thanks for the update! Our sons have seen Jason Aldean 2 or 3 times already. Sounds like fun. Thanks for the update also!!!!!!

I would love to stay at the Poly some day. I have done the same thing as you for next summer. We are currently booked at Pop for 6nights, but after this last trip I have been working numbers. With the AAA rate, it would be $800 more to do 2 nights at POP and 4 at BC CL. But then I look at the time to change hotels and the possiblity to be without a room for awhile and I can get a standard room at BC for about the same price for all 6 nights and then wait to see if a better discount comes out to upgrade to CL where we really want to be. We got AAA travel cards for this year so I am putting money on them as I get it. This way if an emergency comes up and I need the money, I have the card to use it and replace the money at a later time. We are also looking at going to see the Blue Man group at Universal one night.

Our original plan for next year was 2 rooms/6 nights at POP, but then we started to look at 2 nights at POP and 4 nights at BC (each 1 room 1 bathroom for 4 adults). We have decided on 2 rooms/6 nights at POFQ. It is about $700 more then the original plan, but we want to try different resorts.
