Our Anniversary Week at the Happiest Place on Earth!! TR DONE 8/30 SOUVENIR POST SOON

The Morocco buildings are so pretty. We walked through them on our trip for the first time and it was much more interesting than I thought it would be. We liked the little room with the backdrop to take pictures in front of.

It sounds like you had a nice time walking around World Showcase. We have never really just walked and looked, we have also been headed somewhere. Maybe one day I can look around without rushing. We want to eat at Teppan Edo next time we go so I am excited to see how you both liked it.

I bought 2 of the Mickey gnomes last year & had them ship them home. I have one in the front yard & one in my back yard. I just love them! Those grand marnier slushies are great. I tried it for the 1st time in May. Will try the Grey Goose next year. Anxious for your next update!

I had no idea about the chair stacking guys! That looks super cool. Ecpot is amazing!

Haha about the British guys doing an american accent, I asked a Scottish guy to do an American Accent once, he ended up talking like a surfer dude from Southern California. Bahaha!

I agree, the tiles are soo pretty there. It seems very authentic, too.

We did have a good time walking around WS. You should definitely do it sometime. I still feel like we rushed through a lot. TE update will be up later today!

The gnomes were so cute I just didn't wanna spend that much $ on them! I had drinks to buy  They are really cute! And the slush was yummmm. I'm going to try the grey goose one when we're back there in December!

The chair stacking guy was sooo amazing, how the heck does he do that?! THats so funny about the accent! I figured they would probably do like a heavy NY accent or something :lmao:

When I last left off we had just done the first half of the World Showcase, not quiet as in depth as I had hoped but I wasn't disappointed. Our dinner reservation at Teppan Edo was for 6:00 but we were at the Japan pavillion by 5:20 so we just decided to walk in and check in to get off our feet and in some AC. We walked up the long stairs and to the left was the check in for TE. The extremelyyyy nice CM told us we would probably have to wait until 6 but they would do what they could to get us in earlier. They handed us our little buzzer and we went and sat down on the cushioned benches. We talked a little and people watched and after like 15 mins, Chris was asleep on my shoulder. I'm telling you, that boy has no shame about where and when he falls asleep! I didn't care though, I just let him sleep. A man who was there with his family was walking out and saw Chris sleeping and asked me how long we'd been in the World. I told him since Sunday (it was now Friday) and he knew that explained it all. LOL Anyway, our buzzer went off at 5:45, seated 15 mins early!

Let me tell you, no where in the world or the World are there nicer CMs than you will meet in Teppan Edo. Every single CM said thank you to us about 100 times. THey were just the most polite people you'll ever meet!! Every one of them! They show us to our table and we're sitting with 2 other couples, one in their 30s, the other in their 40s and then a mother and her daughter, probably in her late teens. A nice group of people. Soon, our chef came out. It was a female which was cool because every time i've ever been to hibachi up here by me, its always been a male. Here she is...
374.jpg

She was soooo polite and very funny as you can see by the picture! She really was getting into it all and we loved it! I ordered the hibachi chicken and shrimp and chris ordered the hibachi chicken and steak. THe two couples to our right started talking it up about where they were staying so after a while we began talking to the mother and daughter sitting to our left. They were so nice and were staying at All Star Sports. I believe they were from upstate NY, the Buffalo area which was cool that they were from NY too. Here’s our food porn
Noodles and some veggies

Ok here’s my review of Teppan Edo. Like I said, you won’t find more polite, kind CMs anywhere. There’s two waiters, one that’s your real waiter and then like a secondary waiter who gets drink refills and things. You never wait for a refill or anything for that matter. At the beginning of the meal you get a hot wash cloth to wipe your hands down. Apparently that is custom in Japan and I thought it was really cool and authentic that they have you do it there too. Overall, we did like TE. The only thing for us was that we have had better hibachi by our house. We’ve tried a bunch of different places up here on the Island and we found one place that we love and really blows TE out of the water, based on quality and quantity of the food. That was the only thing we didn’t like about TE, such small portions. You can see I had maybe 7 small shrimp and not a large portion of noodles or chicken. Soup isn’t included here and neither is salad. At the hibachi places at home, that’s all included, as well as rice and it costs about the same at TE cost us. That being said, the service at TE blew all the places at home out of the water. Enough can not be said about how nice these CMs are. I’m going to say that my opinion is a little biased since we have so many good hibachi places by us at home. If we had nothing to compare it to, I’m sure we would have thought even more highly of the place. It was very good food with amazing service. Just not as good as we have it at home. That being said, we would definitely eat at TE again and would I would recommend it to anyone looking for a WS restaurant to eat at.

After dinner they offered us dessert. We actually had room for it but after checking out the dessert menu, nothing really appealed to us. We decided to just hold off and get something later. Dinner was done in a little over an hour so almost 7:00. I took this picture that I know a lot of people try and get in this pavillion
379.jpg

We continued our walk now around the WS into the American pavillion! I’m still kicking myself for not having us go inside here, idk what I was thinking. Another thing to add to the “next time” list.

383.jpg

Across the way in the theater the Flower Power concert series was going on. I can’t remember who was playing that day, I just remember we weren’t really interested in sitting down to watch them.
381.jpg

382.jpg

At the little snack stand that’s over there Chris grabbed a Bud Light. He’s such an adventurous drinker LOL
384.jpg

He’s also the world’s fastest drinker because it was done in like 4 mins. Next up in our tour of the World (Showcase) was Italy! Another gorgeous pavillion. Right as we were walking up the WS performers were starting one of their acts. This one was called “Romeo and Edna.” We stopped to watch right at the beginning when they were picking random people out of the spectators to be a part of the show.
385.jpg

387.jpg

388.jpg

This show was HILARIOUS!!! Everyone was cracking up laughing the whole time, it was such a riot. These actors seriously put on such a good show and the people they picked from the audience were such great sports and really got into it and everything. If you’ve never watched this, please stop and do so. You will thank yourself! It’s obviously a Romeo and Juliet parody. I don’t want to get into other specifics of it because I want you all to promise you’ll stop at the Italy pavillion and watch this show next time you’re there! Here’s a little sneak peak of the scene at the end where they “kill themselves.”
389.jpg

Seriously, so funny! I did get some other pictures from Italy too..
386.jpg

390.jpg

391.jpg

Next up, Germany! Chris is German so I think he felt close at heart to this pavillion LOL
392.jpg

First we stopped to check out the train set.
393.jpg

394.jpg

395.jpg

Then we went in some shops
396.jpg

These clocks are really so cool
397.jpg

We really wanted to buy steins but they were expensive! Chris already said when we go back though, he’s buying one. We’re probably going to eat at Biergarten so hopefully he can get one there. I kept telling him to get beer here but he was nervous he was going to not like it. He only really drinks Bud or Bud Light at home so he didn’t want to waste his money and not like it. Next time, he said he’ll be more daring with his beers LOL

Just a mere $38k for this one!

Next up:: The rest of the WS and Illuminations!

Oh, I am so hungry after looking at your Teppan Edo pics -- we just adore it there!

The rest of your evening looks lovely -- I would like to stop and watch the Italian WS players sometime -- they sound like a hoot!

Hmmm teppen edo looks like fun but of coarse im not sure if I would like n e thing to eat there....

Ummm and I really shouldn't have looks at all r pics at ur house today cuz it did kinda ruin the suprise reading ur TR

funny.....morocco is my favorite WS pavilion followed by italy. you have good taste! ;)

glad you liked teppan edo. and you're right - the servers/staff there are SO nice! remember my TR when they kept bowing and saying, 'SSSSAAAAANK YOU!" :lmao: and i agree about the food quality/quantity lacking. that could definitely be improved but i think you're paying for the atmosphere and the service there. i didn't think it was bad at all, but i've had better hibachi at a place in athens about 20 minutes from my house! having said that, i'll probably still go back to teppan edo!

Pshaww, 38K for the castle. I like the free picture instead. Romeo and Edna looks pretty funny, you've piqued my curiousity.

My dad speaks Japanese and does a lot of travel there, hence we had Japanese exchange students growing up. It is definately their culture to be extremely polite, they are so sweet. I'm not surprised at all by their kind treatment of you.

Glad you enjoyed Teppan Edo! Looks like you had a fun time in WS. That is crazy about that castle being $38K!

I agree, the tiles are soo pretty there. It seems very authentic, too.

I just wanted to say Morrocco looks authentic because it really is. The guy in charge over there (I don't know if he's an emperor or king or whatever) sent over his workers and designers and they actually built it.

The gnomes were so cute I just didn't wanna spend that much $ on them! I had drinks to buy  They are really cute! And the slush was yummmm. I'm going to try the grey goose one when we're back there in December!

The Mickey gnomes are the only lawn gnomes I like!

Can't wait for more!! Teppen Edo looks good!! I had an ADR for there but my mom didn't want to go :sad2:

Aw, looks like you guys had a great meal. I really would like to try there! That shrimp looks YUMMY! Dang it, no dessert looked good. I always look forward to that part of the meal.

LOL, that Bud Light is looking pretty good! But geeze Chris...couldn't you have gotten something a little unusual?! You were in World Showcase! Oh well..you can try something new with B/F over break.

Hahaha, that scene where the guy and girl are laying on the ground looks hilarious!

Oh gosh, the train set...B/F could look at that for hours. We might have to leave him. :rotfl2:

Oh sure...I just have $38,000 just laying around to buy that! :thumbsup2

I would want to know what the English accent sounds like to them too! hehe That would be funny.. :goodvibes

I love all your pics so far of World Showcase.. so wonderful.. I love this park so very much.
We also skipped Mary Poppins because the line was soooo long and then we never seen her again.. next time no skipping! I was really disappointed because she's my favorite.

Holy crap.. that drink looks soo yummy.

I loved the Mickey Ghome! I would of bought one- but we are in the process of moving.. to idk where.. hehe and I'm not sure if I'll have a yard or not. Where not sure if we will be renting a house or a townhouse or a apt... we are looking but its still up in the air- so I didn't want to get it and then it be a waste. Maybe next time. :goodvibes

Even though we took our time through most of WS, I think we still rushed it. Next time we'll go through even slower and see some of the shows there too. TE update will be soon! Have you guys ever tried any of the Japanese hibachi places around by us?

well im pretty sure that keith hasnt ever been to hibachi but i used to go to Gasho japan all the time and its so good...i read your review of TE and i totally get what you mean..ill prob try it out on my next vacation even tho those portions do look small!

I love your update! You're starting to hear more and more about Teppan Edo on the boards lately and someone I work with just got back and said they enjoyed eating there, too. Have you ever eaten at Tokyo Dining? I wonder how different it is?

LOVED all your Germany pics - it's my favorite stop in WS! (Well, until I saw Eddie the hot bartender in the Rose & Crown hahaha) I love the shows but I haven't seen the Italy one, so I promise if I see it next time I will stop to watch!

That castle is crazy. I could get a REALLY nice NEW car for less than that, LOL. It is REALLY pretty though!

I'm posting another update because even though I'm off for the next 2 days, I probably won't be around much since...tomorrow's my birthday! :bday: to me LOL I keep teasing my mom that turning 22 doesn't make me feel old at all but I'm sure it makes her feel ancient...she replied by trying to tell me she had me at age 12 hahaha We had cake at my house with my family Friday night and tomorrow Chris and I are heading to NYC for the day. I wanted to finish our Epcot day last night but I just didn't have the oompf to stay awake so I'll just finish it now!

I had just left off with the $38k castle inside the Germany pavillion shops. P.S., even though we had just eaten dinner, those Bratwursts inside the pavillion's QS place were really calling our names. We decided to wait it out until later though to get one. Next up, China!
401.jpg

I have to say we didn't really spend much time over here, except for Chris to use the bathroom. Another "next time" for me is seeing the Reflections of China video.
402.jpg

403.jpg

Rounding the bend we come to Norway!
404.jpg

405.jpg

This pavillion was really cool to me. I wanted to ride Maelstrom because I'd never done it before butttt the line was too long for my liking and it was getting close to time to find a spot for Illuminations.
406.jpg

We walked through the shops though. Of course, I had to have a picture with Chris and the troll.
407.jpg

Then we went over to grab a little dessert from one of the QS places over there, I think its called something like Kringla something or other. Everything looked sooo yummy it was hard to choose.
408.jpg

409.jpg

Now waiting on line in here I got a little annoyed. We got skipped over like 4 or 5 times when placing our order. The girl wasn't even making eye contact with us. Granted, we could have gotten a little loud and yelled "excuse me!" so she knew we were still waiting but after like 5 mins or so of us still standing there, it didn't occur to her that we needed help still? And you think the people in line after us would say "Are you being helped?" before just jumping up with their orders. Whatever.

I really wanted to get the almond covered pretzel for us to share but Chris was more feeling the chocolate covered one so we got that one instead.
411.jpg

Looks reallyyyyy delicious right? It didn't taste that great. I mean, it was good and we ate it but certainly not as good as it looks!

It was getting close to 8:00 now and I had just one more thing on the agenda before we found a spot for Illuminations. A margarita from Mexico!! I was soooo excited for this the whole walk around the WS and jumped right in line. I didn't hesitate to dish out the $9 for the Fiesta margarita.
412.jpg

I loveeee margaritas, they're definitely my favorite drink. Well let me tell you, I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in my life. This drink was one word: NASTY. idk how anyone could drink it unless you've already had a few drinks to where your "tastebuds are numb" (Tammy LOL) I tried each flavor individually by moving the straw up through the drink and ick ick and more ick. They seriously must use the cheapest tequila mixed with old dishwater to make these drinks. I even had Chris try it and he nearly spit it out. Sad to say, I threw it out along with the $9. Boooo hoooo.

Although I was disappointed, we moved on, heading back the way we came to find a good spot for Illuminations! People were already sitting on most of the benches and tables around the lagoon so we ended up walking back to the area in between Italy and America, down those steps to the area where they have the little gondola in the water. We sat on the steps over there waiting and waiting and waiting some more for Illuminations to finally start. Chris posed while we waited...
413.jpg

After what seemed like forever, it began! I'm sorry to say I didn't take a single picture because I knew it was a lost cause with my camera. They would have come out terrible and I would have missed half the show. Well, everyone knows its an amazingggg show! I love love love it. It was really funny though, there was this older guy and his wife standing next to us. He was seriously getting wayyyy too excited about the fireworks. He kept saying, "Get up get up get up! Oh yea baby oh yeaaa get up!" (in reference to the fireworks) Chris and I were making comments about him to one another the whole time. Things that I can't write out here on the Dis but I'm sure you can all figure out what we were saying LOL

After the show was over, we just sat there and waited for a little while for some of the crowds to thin out. We knew it was pointless to try and run out with everyone. Actually, now that I think about it, it was PM EMH that night. I remember us deciding we weren't going to stay too much longer though because we were soooo tired. THat's waht waking up for rope drop almost every morning will do to ya! We got up after a little while and walked back around towards Mexico. We stopped in Germany along the way to grab those Brats we wanted earlier. Actually we just got one and split it. After eating them I think it made Chris decide he definitely wanted to try Biergarten on our next trip. We sat and ate the brat then got up and kept walking. This was all I got of the Mexico pavillion because we were just shot and our feet hurt.
414.jpg

And looking across the lagoon towards the America pavillion
415.jpg

Continuing around the WS we went, into FW. We sat again on the ledge in front of the dancing fountain to let more crowds go by then headed out to the bus stop. We timed it really well because there was practically no one at the stop and the bus came within 5 mins. We were back to ASMo by 10:30. After we got off the bus we walked into the gift shop to pick up a few packages that we had shipped back because we needed to start packing up our things. Back in the room we began cleaning up and putting some clothes back into our suitcases so that way the following night we wouldn't be going crazy trying to pack up. I didn't want to think about leaving!! After packing we laid down, read our books and were asleep by 11:30.

Another wonderful, perfect day in WDW was done. Tomorrow was our last day :( and we were heading to the best place ever, the MK!!! :yay:

Have a wonderful birthday tomorrow!!!

I love, love, love the picture of the sun setting and the Chinese gate -- just beautiful!

What a shame about both the chocolate pretzel and the Fiesta Margarita :(. They both looked like they should be delicious.
