That's for just a standard room too. No AAA or AP discounts offered for the weekend though they are offered for the weekday nights.

Any S/D experts out there who have a general idea if/when regular discounts might be announced? How far in advance of the dates, I mean?

Standard room at GF in '07 value season is only $375. Sheesh!

That is probably because the S/D do their rates like normal hotels. Unlike Disney where you essentially may the listed rack rate except if you are lucky enough to get some sort of discount. At normal hotels, like the S/D, you only pay the rack rate if the hotel/resort is completely full or something like that. Usually you pay a rate significantly lower than the list price (that is one reason why the proposed changes to the Disney booking system might actually lead to lower rates). Sometimes when a hotel first puts room inventory out for booking, they haven't added the discounted rates yet so all you see is the rack rate.

WOW, Ive never seen the SWAN and DOLPHIN that high. We paid $99 for the SWAN just a few years ago. Is there something special about the first weekend in Feb?

Yes, I understand what you are saying, except that there ARE discounts available for the weekdays so some have been loaded into the system - I looked only at AP and AAA - and none for the weekends. So you are implying, I guess, that they are already sold out on discount rates for the weekend? That might very well be true, I am no expert, but I have seen rate "sales" for S/D. In fact, that is what made my last stay at the Dolphin possible. I thought maybe the "sales" were somewhat predictable and that is what I was trying to get at.

It might be Super Bowl weekend and there is a cheer competition as well, but I've been at WDW that weekend 2 years ago and it was very quiet in the parks and deluxe hotels were not difficult to book, even last minute. It's value season by Disney's estimation.
