Hubby is going to Ottawa on business next month and I was hoping you could help me get a hotel for him. Here's the particulars:

need to be in the vicinity of 1050 Baxter Rd.

About $100/night

April 5th & 6th

Any info would be appreciated!

Just let me check the link:)

Yep, that's the one::yes:: Are you going to get to go too?

mbb,

No, won't be making it down this time, maybe another time. Thanks for the link, I've checked out Expedia and TRavelocity but what I need help with is the location really. There WAY too many hotels to go through and map them all out. I just thought maybe someone who knew the area well could look at the address I gave and give me 2 or 3 hotels that are close to that address.

If he has a car, check out Hotwire.com and search for Ottawa West. There is not a lot of hotels around Baxter road but you could look up Ottawa on www.biddingfortravel.com and it could help with locations.

Just remember that hotwire is US dollars.

There is a way to use Travelocity that you enter the addy of where you want to stay like 1050 Baxter Rd...and it gives you all the hotels and how far they are from there.

If you have trouble doing this, send me your # and I can talk you through it on the phone. Samantha :wave2:

P.S. don't forget to call the hotel directly as you may get the best quote by doing this.

Hi Cass,

Baxter Road is in the west end of Ottawa. Does your husband have a car? There aren't really many hotels in that immediate area (actually there are none that come to mind immediately), but Baxter is right beside the main thoroughfare in Ottawa (Hwy 417).

If he goes 5-10 minutes west on the 417, he would be able to find a number of nice hotels in Kanata, which is the major west-end subdivision just beyond Baxter Road. To get to Baxter he would be taking the Pinecrest/Greenbank offramp, and Kanata is about three or four exchanges west of there. There is a Holiday Inn Express in Kanata, a Country Inn and Suites, (both of which are very new) and a Comfort Inn (which is slightly older). It's an easy drive in from there to Baxter Road. Hope this is useful, and if you need more help please let me know.

Good luck,
MouseGirl

Thank you all for your help! Much appreciated and most helpful! :cool1:

He will have a car so I will probably book him something in Kanata.

Thanks!

Doing a search on travelocity.ca, using the dates and address you provided,

There were others too. These seemed to be the closest in the 100 dollar/night range.

I often stay at the Holiday Inn Select in Kanata, but it is usually in the $150 range.....

Hi Cass,

The Days Inn Ottawa West which is on Moodie Drive (literally two exits west of Pinecrest/Greenbank - the offramp he'll take to get to Baxter Road) is showing up at about $108 per night for the time he's there. Nice new hotel. The Country Inn and Suites in Kanata is about $118, and the Holiday Inn Select is showing up at $135.

I personally would not go for anything in Gatineau - shows a radius of 6 km but the reality is the drive would take him much longer than that because he would have to cross the river from the Quebec side to get there. Quite the traffic nightmare in peak times (I used to drive it every day). I would stick to one of the hotels noted above - good restaurant choices for him and excellent proximity to Baxter Road.

I too would suggest Kanata. There are two there (Country Inn and Suites and Holiday Inn Select)...both are only a few years old. They are also right next to Hwy 417 (The Queensway) for quick access and Baxter Road is right off the 417 a few exits east. I'm sure we can all give him directions if he needs them...just let us know when you make a decision. :)

I live west of the Kanata hotels mentioned. Be careful of the morning commute (it's not anything like my years in Toronto but it can be an inconvenience).

Try the Embassy West, Travel Lodge West or the Macie's Best Western. They're all around the 1400 block of Carling Ave which is 3 exits east of Baxter Rd. The drive should be better and closer. These hotels are not as nice as the Holiday Inn Select as they are a lot older. Not sure of rates.
