We recently purchased OKW. Part of the reason was the price but also the boat ride to DTD and options for nightlife were appealing. I know of Raglan Road and House of Blues but is there anything else?

Does Captain Jacks have a lounge?

Well, there is the AMC Movie theatre complex and Cirque de Soleil. Without the clubs, there will be a lack of adult only type of venue, however.

Nothing that I can think of. At least nothing that interests me.

As soon as I can get my hands on some Grand Californian Points, I will be reselling my SSR points as there is no need for me to return to Walt Disney World without the Adventurers Club.

While not in the DTD area, JellyRolls in the BWV area is a great night spot. Its a dueling piano bar that opens around 8:00 pm each night. Also the Atlantic Dance is right at BWV too and is for ages 21 and up.

Good options! Thx. Could we bus over there or would we have to cab? I was going to see if we could move over to BWV, this may seal that deal, if there is room.....

We will miss AC ,8-Trax and CW I hope the do more of Raglan Road style an eatery / lounge mix. Maybe they will start to put more at the resorts like they have at Cafe Rix the BW area POR/ FQ.

Come on now, people. Disney has announced that what we really want instead of Pleasure Island nightclubs is more shops. Lord knows I can never find a shop when I'm at WDW.

So, all PI nightclubs will be closed by 9/27/08 so they can put in more shops and other crap. There goes any reason to stay at Saratoga Springs - glad my points are elsewhere!

I think that most are underestimating what Disney will do in that area. While it will take time to develop, there is very little that Disney does that will be so near sighted as just a few more shops. I am sure you will see things redeveloped out of the night club scene, into the more in style of restaurant/pub, etc style adult entertainment.

While AC and CW are being removed now, it doesnt' mean that they won't come back in some form or fashion later. I am excited to see what they do to this area....I think it will be more usable space that will appeal to a wider audience.

I definitely enjoy having a few beers after the Parks close. I'll have to admit that the last couple of times I went to Pleasure Island were not Disney experiences. I witnessed two fights in the Beach Club bar while listening to the band "Stormbringer", I also saw people staggering around outside the West Side stage, the ground outside near the West Side stage was littered with empty beer cups and there was spilled alcohol everywhere giving off a stale odor, and there were people just hanging out on the walkways making sexual comments to attractive females as they walked by. It's just a fact that loud music, alcohol, and women wearing skimpy clothing create negative energy. I guess I'll be visiting Jelly Rolls and the Tambu Lounge (Polynesian Resort) more often.

We've never used the clubs in PI, since we've always had the kids with us when we've gone and by the time the kids are gone - we'll be too old to enjoy it - so no great loss to my family. We did learn on a trip back in 2003 to never ride Disney busses from DD late in the evening. We took the bus over for a late supper and then did some shopping until 11:00 or so then picked up the bus at the area near the WOD and those shops. Not realizing the busses would pick up over at the PI area. The biggest bunch of rude, foul mouthed adults boarded the bus and made the trip back to the resort a very uncomfortable situation for anyone on board who was sober! One in their party even got off twice at bus stops and "relieved" himself where everyone sitting by a window or waiting for the bus would get to witness it. DH and I are by no means prudes - but that was a very unDisneylike evening for us. We never took a bus to DD again and will be fine with not having to deal with that situation ever again.

With Pleasure Island's closing, maybe they could keep some of the resort bars open a little bit later. I don't spend a lot of time at the bars, but it seems like every time I was at one when it closed, they were throwing out lots of people. It's not like they lacked customers at that hour.

It just figures that'd they shut PI down in Sept. since we'll be there in Oct. and were excited to finally be able to give it a try. Kids are finally old enough to stay by themselves a little and we'll be at SSR so it'd be convenient. I'm sure they won't have anything but construction to replace it by that point. :sad2:

Part of the reason we bought in at SSR instead of AKV was PI! We love PI and although DH can take or leave (mostly leave :rotfl: ) Mannequine's, he usually will suck it up for a few hours for me! this is really a blow! My BFF and I are going in Aug and I guess we'll be at PI more than I had originally planned because it will be the last time. I know that many people take their families and children, but PI hasn't been the same since they took down the gated bridges and has made it a free for all. DH and I don't have children, so it's nice to have a place that is adult only to enjoy some adult beverages and just hang out. No offense to anyone who has children!! Please!! but we enjoy PI and it's a shame that it's for all intents and purposes gone. Guess it's going to be $80 cab rides to Margaritaville several nights a week. So much for Disney keeping guests on property!

We enjoyed PI when we went down, so it is sad that they will be closing. Since we had our daughter, we have not gone back to PI, but we do go over to DTD for dining and shopping, so maybe we are the target audience :)

Was a reason given for the change? Were they having a lot of problems down there?

Two of my favorite things to do in DD are Fuego Cigar bar and Mohito's from Bongos. Personally I'll miss the Adventurers club, but I will have reasons to go to DD.

ITA. I haven't been to PI since I was in my 20s and even then it was unappealing. No loss at all as far as I'm concerned. I was just at the West Side last night and I am sure there are plans for that real estate - the entire area between Cirque and PI was jammed.
