OT - why is the week before I leave so packed!?

Well, I guess I know why. Sometimes I leave things to the last minute.

And by "sometimes" I mean "always".

So, this week I have to manage my full time job, running home at lunch to let a pair of maids into my house (best christmas gift ever), then running my dog to the "doggie spa" to get the winter salt washed off him - and to get him out of the way while the maids clean, then run back to work. (maid? Doggie spa? Is this really me talking?)

Then the next day I have to wait around for a dryer repair guy to call and tell me when he's coming before I head off to work, while co-ordinating with my sister who will be home (fingers crossed) to let him in That leaves ONE evening for laundry before I leave. I swear, I'll burn the dryer out again with my own Disney roller coaster... Big Smelly Laundry Mountain!

Also? My sister's birthday is the day my DBF (who has jury duty all this week) leave for Buffalo (hooray southwest), so I also have to find a gift for her, and take her out for a nice dinner on Friday night. Then attend her Saturday brunch before hitting the road.

Want to pack. Can't pack much without fixed dryer.

I have a feeling I'm not going to make it to the gym as much as I'd planned this week.

And I really wanted to get my vespa to the shop so they can get the transmission fixed before spring comes - but since that's been waiting since November, I think it can wait another week. No point in taking too much on!

Who else is overwhelmed in the week before your trip?

May I suggest a laundromat? Find one that has a "wash & fold" service, and drop it off before work, or at lunch one day. It may be pricey, I haven't done it in a long time, but I think that having it done and out of the way may be worth it. Call it a vacation expense, if that will help, and you could do your packing while you wait for the dryer guy to make his appointment. I think you are leaving yourself wide open to "Murphy's Law", if you depend on the dryer guy to be able to fix yours before your trip. What if they need to order a part or something?? These days, I'm all about finding ways to manage my stress, and sometimes it costs a little to do it, but it's well worth it if you can get some grunt work out of the way.

I've been really tempted to use a wash and fold service... Just take the stuff I want to bring on vacation. Smart, thanks!

i just remembered that I have to get our mortage renewal docs signed by my parents before I go, too - which means figuring out when my mom is home to switch her phone to "fax", and where my dad wants his copy faxed. They both live in Florida.

I hear ya. Just about at wits end here too. I also work full time and have been running DS to school everyday and 3 times to childrens hospital to change his cast (broken ankle) just got home from there....they took it off for the trip,,,woohoo..., I've was off sick a few days last week and just finished my antibiotics for a sinus infection...still have it and now some kind of thrush in my mouth (gross)...waiting for the Doc to call to see if she can squeeze me in tomorrow sometime during my seminar, lol. I've cancelled 2 tanning appts, no time. I haven't had my legs waxed (like I always do before vacation) cause I'm always running DS somewhere. I was going to try for tomorrow aft but that will be taken up by the Docs again. The oil light came on in the car so I had to get that fixed on Sat as well as bought some last minute things for the trip. Had the cat's nails trimmed for my Mom because shes going to take the cat to her house to watch while we are gone.

Feeling very very over-whelmed here too :(

But somehow it will all get done and we will be on that plane on Wed and once we step outside of the Airport in Florida, I'll let out a huge sigh, lol

I hear ya, I leave on Saturday for WDW and this week is CRAZY! Ive got to leave projects with most of my co-workers of functions that I normally do and try to get stuff done oh like pack for DH and myself, plus laundry and try to finish everything in the fridge that might go bad while we are gone. Im going to need a vacation from my prepping for my vacation.

I always find the week before vacation to be crazy. I think that it makes you appreciate your vacation even more though.

Hi Everyone,

Did you guys ever notice that the time you spend at work the week before a vacation goes soooooo slow, BUT as soon as you leave work there isn't enough hours in the day. :confused3

Hear hear!

And my dog's out of fooooood!! Woe is me! Another errand! How did I miss that?

Is it sad that I'm worried about the maids judging how messy my house is? I'm planning a pre-maid cleanup tomorrow evening.

:cool1: I am not alone!! My DD, Katdb and PhotobearSam will both ascertain to my unwillingness to pack.....I don't know why :confused3 I hate it so, but I do!! I have been know to pack upto three hours before the alarm goes off to get up and go to the airport :guilty: I keep saying I will change, but so far :sad2:

I wonder if there is a special help group for people like us Tabetha :rotfl: ( or better yet someone I can afford to pay to do it all for me. wait DD needs tution money :teacher: I wonder  if she would :o ???

Good Luck Tabetha, :shamrock: I think you are going to need it.

Tabetha, check your messages, I PM'd you regarding mortgage rates.

It is because you really need a vacation! We are leaving in two weeks and I think I will do our packing this weekend. That is the bonus of traveling to a different climate. We are also staying in a timeshare so we can do laundry there which cuts down on the packing stuff.
Whenever we go away I am ususally up until 3 a.m. the night before cleaning, packing etc. I am sure I will be this time too!

My people! We must band together!

I'm wonder how long it'll be before my "I hate all my clothes, I want to buy something new to wear." virus kicks in... Its inevitable. Must... fight... shopping... bug...

We leave in 2 weeks on the land/sea cruise package and I haven't even thought of packing yet! Managed to get a little bit of shopping done at lunch today but I have so much stuff to do even before I think of packing. We just got back from a weekend in Ottawa along with a 12 hour drive (both ways) and I will never do two holidays in one month again!

I have 3 kids who skate 3x per week and have piano lessons and practises not to mention speech competitons, skating competitions, 2 of their friends birthday parties, nieces birthday, Dad's 70th birthday party (which I am organzing), 2 ski trips days, church brunch, finish 4 skating costumes for picture day Saturday and this is just kids and social oblingations to fit into the next two weeks.

I won't even start with work - shouldn't have year end at this time of year, and who came up with the end of February for T4 deadlines! Somewhere I need to fit in a doctor's appt (need nausea meds for the cruise) and a physical plus the dog needs to go to the vet! Plus my husband is gone most of the time with our business while I handle everything at the office.

Thanks for letting me vent - :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

It's life I guess!

Good Heavens, my3princesses, I need to go and lie down after just reading about your next 2 weeks. No wonder you need a vacation!

Aw man! I paid off my credit card so that it would be clear for the trip, and the payment still hasn't cleared! (did it online on Friday)
I've never paid attention to how long it takes for payments to clear, before but I have a feeling this is cutting it a little too close... Erp!
