OT: Which Guitar Hero?

I heard that people were snapping them up for less than £20 in Woolworths closing sales (GHWT + guitar controller) - I also read that someone picked up the band pack for £45 when the sales reached 70% off. Wowser.
Unfortunately both the stores nearest us had closed by the time we got back from WDW. From what I've heard it was like an attack of the vultures - even the staff room tables, sofas and microwaves were being sold off (not to go off topic....)

Anyone know when the drums might be released on their own? Can't find any details for love or money. Do the drums add greatly to the experience?

Gav.

Woolworths "everything must go" was pathetic by us - even with whatever discounts they were offering things were still cheaper in Asda - no wonder them (and Zavvi) went down the tubes

:goodvibes

As far as I know, I don't think the drums are due to be released by themselves, or at least not for a while yet. Otherwise, I would have just bought the drums, not the entire box. Now I have 5 GH/RB guitars!

The only one I have for Wii is World Tour, and would highly recommend it (I dropped $200 on it a week or so before x-mas at target cuz I knew it was out of Santa's budget this year, and I wasn't sure when I'd have the chance to buy it again). DW & I really enjoy it so far...I have enjoyed the guitar-ing itself, as well as the singing & drumming. The drumming takes some getting used to, and DW is getting quite good. I can get to the point where I don't get boo'd off the stage, but not quite there yet. The singing I could take or leave...the words for the songs are hard to read at times, but it's not really the words that count, it's pitch. I have recently started getting the downloadable content from the GH Store (connectible from Wii's WiFi connection), and there are some pretty good songs that you can buy for about 200 Wii Points each, as well as some free songs. The songs themselves take up about 200 blocks on the Wii's memory, so download wisely, or get an expansion SD Card for the Wii (that's on my list of things to do now).

As far as the others, I have I, II, III, Encore: 80's & Aerosmith for PS2. Of those, I'd say III is the best overall game (I like the career mode in it more...mostly because of the duels), followed closely by II. Aerosmith is a solid game as well, and I like the fact that it follows Aerosmith through the years, as well as giving you other great songs not in previous versions of the GH franchise. GH:I is a good game, but it seemed like it was not expecting to be the groundbreaking franchise it has become, and pales in comparrison to the later versions. 80's Encore is an ok game, but of the franchise, it is much like Godfather 3 (better than most other stuff, but when compared to the franchise, not so much).

I have no experience with the DS versions or anything from the Rock Band franchise (but now that I have the full band set for GH on Wii, I might have to research cross-over compatibility for GH equipment to Rock Band games), but both look like they would be equally entertaining.

Hope this helps in your decision making process. :rockband:
