I was driving home last night and spotted the first lit Christmas tree in someone's front window. Just wondering when you deck the halls....
DH has an early Dec. b-day, so we wait until after that to decorate.

I didn't have a choice. Our DS has autism and on Sat. he really wanted to have the lights up and the house decorated. I normally wait until Thanksgiving but the weather was good and I felt like putting the day into decorating so we are ready, already.

We usually decorate the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I make a turkey dinner and we listen to christmas music while decorating.

Its actually just a big excuse to have Turkey leftovers...We are usualy at a relatives for Thanksgiving so we miss out. :rotfl2:

Both my boys have December birthdays. DS2 has a christmas birthday. My DH has an early January birthday. I try to decorate early (thanksgiving week), because with all the birthday stuff going on I can't find time in December.

We are putting our tree up this weekend because it is DH's last weekend off until after Xmas...then he goes to 6 days a week....retail management can put a damper on Xmas ;)

I will decorate the house a little bit each night and then by Thanksgiving the entire inside will be done

I usually start decorating Thanksgiving Day after everyone has left the house. By the end of the next day, everything is up and lit. I love Christmas, the sights and smells. Its wonderful! I play Nat King Cole's Christmas CD while I decorate. It puts me in the best mood. In fact, this year I plan to start my Christmas baking before December. I love to smell Christmas cookies and breads cooking in the oven.

I usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving because I can't stand shopping on Black Friday. I'm usually pretty much done shopping for Christmas by then. However, this year we are going to Disney the day after Thanksgiving so I'm debating decorating early this year - like the weekend before Thanksgiving. I'm also having some work done on the house (tile and carpet) so I don't really want to have to move the decorated Christmas tree and I don't know when the work is going to be done so I am really not sure what to do.

As 17 year old DS's b-day is Dec. 7, DH used to make me wait until after that. He wanted DS to know birthday and x-mas were 2 different things. ;)

Now that the boys are 14 and 17, DH has not been so worried about it the last few years ;)

So now I start on Thanksgiving. It used to take me the whole weekend to decorate but I am thinking about just putting up 1 tree this year and calling it good.:scared1: And the small one at that. Just not the same as it was when they were 4 and 7

I, too, drove past a lit tree last night (I'm in NE Ohio). My mom thinks Thanksgiving should be moved...that it gets lost in the Christmas season. Starting to think she's right!

We decorate the day after Thanksgiving. It's our tradition. That being said though this last week we went ahead and put up a small tree in our girl's playroom. That usually never happend this soon though.

When I was young and we lived out in the country (where no one could see in our windows LOL) we would sometimes put up our tree before Halloween. :lovestruc More time to enjoy it's beauty.

My birthday is Dec 13th so that's when the tree goes up (first of 12 days of Christmas) the boys would have it up now if they could, though.

It kind of depends on plans but usually the week of Thanksgiving. I say that b/c if I am having Thanksgiving here (like this yr) I dont' want the stuff up yet.

Last yr. We had just moved into the house the first wk of Nov. so we started decorating 2nd wk Nov. I saw no reason to put all the Christmas stuff away just to pull out in 2 wks. DH keeps asking when I want to decorate. I said mom/Dad would be here Thanksgiving though Sat. so they can help us start then.

Side thought. When are you done? I often feel like I add/change right up to the date some times.

How ironic! I am putting up our stuff tomorrow! :santa: The weather has been dreary, and we are leaving for our trip soon so I just want it done before I have to worry about last minute trip details.

Usually we do it the weekend before Thanksgiving (we don't host that holiday here) but this year I am doing 2 weeks before!

The outside lights go up the first nice day in November, but we don't turn them on until Thanksgiving.

We decorate the inside of the house the day after Thanksgiving.

This is a SORE subject :) I would have decorated this weekend but my mom in law is coming to visit.... Guess I will start next Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest !!!!!!

In normal years we start on the evening of Thanksgiving after spending the day with family :goodvibes

This year however, I have to go out of the country for work purposes during December so I want to get started early this year

so my Christmas decor goes up the first Sunday of Advent. At our house the purpose of decorating is to prepare for Christmas...so much of the decor is religious. We have an Advent wreath, a Jesse Tree, and the Creche (part of the tradition of it is that the baby is absent until Christmas Eve...and the Wise Men start at the other end of the room and don't arrive until after Christmas. Yes, I know they should arrive January 6th, but by then I am taking everything down!)
