OT: What jeans do you buy if your a "real" gal

'real gal' here- I love Lands' End jeans... and you can try them on at Sears!

I was actually pretty happy with Lane Bryant's new jeans. They have them in different cuts for different body types and it was very enlightening to take all 3 into the dressing room and see how they fit differently.

It sounds like the OP knows they don't like low rise for sure, but I wouldn't tell all plus size gals to rule it out without trying it. They're the only kind I buy. The waistband on regular jeans goes halfway up my chest and tries to roll on me all the time! :rotfl2:

A note about Lane Bryant's new jeans. They've changed the way they display the sizes--they're marked 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8. I couldn't for the life of me figure out which ones I was supposed to get and there was no size chart anywhere I could see. I finally just guessed and wound up finding a pair.

It didn't occur to me until a couple of days later than they had just subtracted the 20 from the size (i.e. the "0" is a 20, the "2" is a 22, and so on). I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake. But hey, I think that's about my only chance in life a wearing a size 4!!! :lmao:

after trying on many pairs of jeans ...ready to give up ,i was in Dress barn outlet and found a great pair of jeans their brand fit perfect and no mommmy crack in the back !!!

I am a size 10-12 now and I really like Lee jeans from Kohls. I had them is size 14 and 16 too. I love the waist band on them. I like the cut on them so they look good with tennis shoes, boots, or loafers.

~ForTheLoveOfDisney~ I know your pain. Last year I was the same way. I really liked dress barn because their tops and bottoms on the misses and plus size in the same store would coordinate. I could get a skirt on one side and the top on the other if needed.

Oh, I did have a pair of Dress Barn jeans I really liked too...

Lee with comfort waist band..also a little bit of stretch..veery comfortable

I like Talbots. They're a little more expensive, but they fit in all the right places.

Eliza, (Hi, fellow groupie)!

I too wear a 10-12 and have an hourglass shape. Probably about an 1.75 hours now!:rotfl2:
Anyway, it is hard to find jeans that aren't too big in the midriff/lower back area and fit my large rearend and thighs. I think Talbot pants really fit well. I also found some Michael Kors on sale at Nordstrom that fit well, but even on sale they were expensive.

Good luck.

I'm a 40 year old mom, and I'm short and well, definitely NOT thin. I can't stand the low rise crap. As far as I'm concerned, pants have a "WAIST"line that needs to go to your waist. I actually wear a size 18Petite (sure, size 18 is anything but petite, but at 5'2"....).
Anyway, the best luck I have is with the Lee Rider stretch jeans in the womens section at Walmart. They cost about $16 and are the only jeans that I've found that fit me well and are comfortable. At $16 a pair, I can have lots :-)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Sonoma Jeans from Kohl's. They sit just below my waist so I don't feel like I have granny pants on. They are so comfortable and fit perfectly in all the right areas. They are the ONLY jeans I buy now!!! I have searched and searched for the perfect fit jeans and for me Sonomas are the ones!!

I wear a 16 petite - 4'11" 150 pounds

LOL - I clicked on here expecting everyone to be all freaked out by the use of the word "real." You know, like "I fit fine in low rise, are you saying I'm not real?"

I'm happy to see a thread where everyone is keeping their heads! I'll be looking for some of the brands people have mentioned. I've noticed it seems a little easier to find clothes now that don't follow the lowrise/muffin top pattern than it was two years ago.

I'm a size 14 and 45 years old. Age really has nothing to do with it - if you wear over a certain size, you shouldn't be wearing low cut anything! :rotfl2:

Anyway, I get my jeans at JCPenny and they are Lee jeans with elastic insets on the sides. They are very comfortable and since I don't tuck any of my shirts in, nobody sees the elastic insets. :lovestruc

Actually I was in the other day and asked about the sizes 0=12, 1=14, 2=16, 3=18, 4=20, 5=22, etc. I just got a pair of these jeans and I absolutely love them. I'm a hippie "blue" pair gal and these jeans fit perfectly, no mom crack, no gap, not too loose and not too tight and some good old stretch. :thumbsup2 So for the size 12 and up girls I really recommend trying them out. They are a bit price at $40, well at least for me, but so worth it.

Casual Corner has great jeans. They have a higher and thick waistband...so they keep that roll in! (I'm a size 12...creeping back into 14's:headache: )

Thanks Lynn. I was wondering about thier sizes below 20. I guess I haven't bought jeans since then (that weren't on clearance)

I am getting ready to google Bandolinoblu (or look at the Macy's site)

I'm almost 40, and I wear a size 12 (sometimes a 10)...I have the WORST time finding pants of any kind!! I like to look a little hip, but my age (not trying to look 20~), but all of the pants are just too low cut. Plus, I'm quite "curvy"...think PEAR. Very large hips and behind, very small waist. Oh, how I hate finding pants. If they fit in the behind, they are HUGE in the waist. For the most part, I only wear Levi's jeans. I buy the medium length and have them hemmed. I'm only 5'3", but the short lengths are too short and I look like I'm wearing floods! For pants, I've had the best luck with Dockers and Merona from Target.

I third the Bandolinoblu - my mom gave me a pair that didn't fit her anymore and I get compliments everytime I wear them.

Try Express. Some are not terribly low cut and I feel somewhat hip when I wear them. Also, Calvin Kleins are good.

build is somewhat thick in the waist, narrow hips, larger thighs.

Uggghh! Am I the only one that hates stretch jeans??? They seem to show every little dimple I've got. Then couple that with the low rise...Yikes! Can you tell how frustrated I am? I wear a size 18 and am 5'3". I seem to fall right in the crack between sizes and fits. Not petite/short, but not regular either. Not women's size, but not regular. I have pretty much resigned myself to wearing "mom" jeans for the rest of my life. I will try out some of the jeans that have been suggested. I hope I can find something.
