OT: What jeans do you buy if your a "real" gal

www.zafu.com

Ladies,
You may want to check out this site. You answer several questions about yourself and your body and it them lists the brands/makes of jeans that should fit your body the best (including what "rise" you prefer).

I tried it myself but have not yet had time to shop for the brands listed.
I did get a variety of high end and low end (no puns intended) jeans listed.

It also will do the same thing with pants and bras.....

HTH.....CindyD:woohoo:

Oh My! Not one pair of pants match up for me. That is not good!

I love Chico's jeans! Some are plain, yet some come with some cute embellishments. Most have a little flair to them (I hate mom jeans). A size 8 is a .5 (for example). I like to buy them on sale and/or with a coupon. I've also had some luck with the Jones brand (at JCP or Kohls??).

I'm almost 40, and I wear a size 12 (sometimes a 10)...I have the WORST time finding pants of any kind!! I like to look a little hip, but my age (not trying to look 20~), but all of the pants are just too low cut. Plus, I'm quite "curvy"...think PEAR. Very large hips and behind, very small waist. Oh, how I hate finding pants. If they fit in the behind, they are HUGE in the waist. For the most part, I only wear Levi's jeans. I buy the medium length and have them hemmed. I'm only 5'3", but the short lengths are too short and I look like I'm wearing floods! For pants, I've had the best luck with Dockers and Merona from Target.

Girl, I can relate! I'm 35 and I've got junk in the trunk, if you know what I mean! Big hips/butt and small waist here too. I have the hardest time finding pants that don't have that big punch bowl-like gap in the posterior region! I have had some luck with Wal-Mart's Faded Glory jeans. . .could fit a bit better, but they're the best I've found in a while and only $15! :teeth:

I love, love, LOVE Old Navy stretch jeans! I wear a size 16-18 and I fit nicely into an Old Navy size 12 stretch jeans! :thumbsup2

Just bought a nice pair of "going out" really dark jeans at Macy (they are Style & Co.). If you are like me and rarely get "out" anymore...these can be really dressed up for a night of the town but worn to work too. Macy's is having big sales right now on the spring clothes (and winter's clearance). I rarely go in there because I'm terrified of the prices but I had a gift certificate that I've had for ages that I finally got around to using.

I agree with the Style and Co. Macy's is having a major clearance sale right now. I just happened upon one pair. I love them. They are charcoal, so not traditional jeans, but after a 4 hour marathon of trying on every pair of jeans in the mall willing to pay any price only to come home with one pair that really didn't fit--I'll take charcoal. The sale was so huge that I could only find one pair :sad1: The fit is great. And whenever I wear them I get so may "did you lose weight?" comments :thumbsup2 .

Oh, and I think the Style and Co. jeans were on sale for $15 or maybe less :goodvibes

Hey fellow May-er!:snooty: :wave2: ! Thanks for the tip on the Faded Glory jeans...I'll have to check those out! I totally know what you mean about the waist gap...I could fit another person in the waist of my jeans!

I'm so glad that I stumbled onto this thread!

I've never stepped foot into Lane Bryant because I thought everything was sized 20 and up (not anything wrong with that, just assumed wouldn't have anything that worked for me). So, a new to me kind of discovery to check out.

I have had good luck with JC Penny with their Levi selection, their A.N.A. jeans and somtimes their name brand, St. John's Bay.

I have a love/hate relationship with stretch. When I first buy it, it is wonderful, makes all the body parts look fabulous. However after several months of washing, they tend to shrink disproportionately in funny areas so they end up tight in some areas with gaps in another.

Do y'all put your jeans in the dryer?

Do y'all put your jeans in the dryer?

One pair, yes. The others, no. It's funny...one pair of my Levi's grow when they are wet, so I have to dry them or they are too long. The rest of my Levi's are fine to air dry...if I put those in the dryer, they will shrink in the length.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Sonoma Jeans from Kohl's. They sit just below my waist so I don't feel like I have granny pants on. They are so comfortable and fit perfectly in all the right areas. They are the ONLY jeans I buy now!!! I have searched and searched for the perfect fit jeans and for me Sonomas are the ones!!

I wear a 16 petite - 4'11" 150 pounds

Thank you for mentioning these jeans!! I went to Kohls today and tried a pair on and they fit perfectly. They were even long enough for me! Kohl's had them on sale for $17.99 but also had other Sonoma on for $15.99. Thank you again!! I needed jeans so bad!!! :)

I am a 14 and I love Lane Bryant's new right fit jeans, that you buy according to your figure shape. I am pear shaped so these work great. I used to love J Lo jeans until she discontinued the "plus" sizes.

Do you still have Casual Corner? Mine all closed a couple of years ago!:sad2:

Thanks for asking the question. I know this is an old thread, but I saw this tonight and was wondering the same thing. I thought Casual corner no longer existed as of early 2007.

I'm a 14 and I wear the Sweetheart jeans from Old Navy. I also love the Long and Lean jeans from Gap.

I love love love this discussion! I don't feel so alone anymore!

Anyway.. I have a big post-c-section belly, and my hips are much smaller, and all my pants fall down, so I usually resort to maternity jeans. (Yep, she's 13mos old!)

Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do? I usually wear long tanktops underneath my shirts. I'm so embarrassed to ask, but i felt it's worth a shot, you ladies rock! :thumbsup2

Once you go lower rise, you won't go back. I would try a pair on. They are more flattering and sit right over that little tummy area instead of drawing attention to it.

Glamour magazine just had a section on finding the right jeans and said the one jean all their testers loved was the "Flirt" jean from Old Navy. I believe it came in sizes from 2 to 20 and ran about $30. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm going to. :goodvibes

Unfortunately, I am still in a size 14, but I do like the jeans at Lane Bryant. I have a few pair and they cover everything.

My goal is to get back into size 8 within a year though.

So, thanks for this thread.

Back in the day (before kids and weight gain!) I used to love the way Chic jeans fit....do they still make those?

Dawn

I hated them! And then what women don't realize is that when you bend over.......well.....you get the idea. I have seen more butt crack since those darned things came out.
