Hello fellow Reward Programmers! I posted this on the budget board, but decided to also post it here to see what you think. We're still working on the RPs too... Have a great day!:)

I am a stay at home mom (who works a few hours a week) and my DH owns his own business. Sometimes there is a lot of work for him and sometimes there is not. He recently picked up a part time job where he gets paid daily and that has been a help to us. (And who would have thought that you could make $100 just for helping someone else out? )

Because we got such a great rate at the Courtyard by Marriot in DTD, we decided to make a return trip to WDW this year. We have been saving change, eBaying, and using our advance tax credit for WDW. However, we have been trying to think of ways to earn extra money to make the trip even more memorable for our little girls.

Which leads to my question...Has anybody ever had a fundraiser to help pay for their trip to WDW? If so, which ones have you done? I know that the company I work for has a fundraising brochure with several different items to choose from. I thought about sending a copy of the brochure to several of my family members and friends with a letter asking for their help. They could purchase the items, and we could make some money for our trip in late September.

Please tell me what you think. Thank you!

How about having a garage sale? Can you work a few extra hours each week?

No, I haven't. Personally, I would try to find better ways to earn money for the trip. Honestly, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking my friends and family to help fund my trip to WDW.

Good luck!

I agree with J&D. The only way I would consider having a fundraiser is if I was trying to raise money to pay medical bills or some other necessity. Many people would love to go to WDW, but they can't afford to and I think you would have a hard time getting others to give you money to pay for your vacation. Just my opinion and I mean no offense to you at all!
:D

I would have to agree with the others not to earn money via a fund raiser. As a teacher in a small rural community, the community is plagued with continuous fund raisers for the schools, church groups, etc. It is rather draining. I would personally rather buy something at a garage sale or the good old fashioned: lemonade sale. Perhaps the girls could offer to walk dogs, or water plants something along those lines.

I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that myself.

The closest I have got to that is one of my son's relatives asking what he would like for his birthday last year and since we were going to Disneyland for it, I told them Disney Dollars weould be great so he could use them to buy things while we were down there.

Thank you all for your posts. I do agree with you. We have decided not to do a fundraiser for WDW. I really didn't think it through. It was one of those ideas that pop into your mind at like 3:00 a.m. We have decided to eBay, and my mom just hired my DH to do some work on her house. So, it looks like we will have extra money to go to WDW after all.:Pinkbounc

Thanks again!:D
