We are looking to expand our travel options since there is a big world out there to explore and were wondering if anyone has any tips or tricks for flying to Bali from Toronto? Is is better to fly direct or to a major hub like Singapore and fly on a smaller airline to Denpasar? Any airlines you'd recommend that would have the most economical flights (I know it won't be cheap--we went to Thailand in 2024 and the sticker shock is real)-- the one thing is we will have enough Visa Avion points to cover 2/3 tix. We are planning to go in July 2026 for our 30th wedding anniversary, and as romantic as that may sound we will have youngest daughter (who will be almost 15) with us, so trying to figure when it would be best to book flights. Any insight from you world travellers would be appreciated.:thanks:

Sister is going in a few weeks. YYZ to Hong Kong ( I think) then to Bali.
Not a place for me, I would be bored and restless.

When we went to Bali years ago we flew Toronto to Singapore first and stayed in Singapore for a few days, partly to recover from the flight and partly because we LOVE Singapore! In Bali, we really enjoyed staying in Ubud, the cultural area. You can do some days trips from there. I would start by checking prices on Google Flights-right now they seem to be around $1500 which is pretty good. There are lots of regional airlines that fly out of SIN and those flights are inexpensive. I think we’ve used Air Asia and Jetstar before for other trips.

We love Singapore, we stayed on Sentosa island for 5 nights before a cruise a few years ago. Did you fly with Singapore Airlines? We did Air Canada (YYZ to Tokyo) / ANA (Tokyo to Singapore). Air Canada does have flights to Bali with 2 stops, though would prefer not use AC. Turkish airlines also has flights to Bali I see with an option of a stopover in Instanbul, but if it's more economical to go through a hub like Singapore that may be a better option as the flights to Bali are showing for $2500 pp.

Will definitely check out flights from Singapore. I am still in the early stages of planning our intinerary: we would to stay in Ubud as well, debating between Nusa Dua or Uluwatu and maybe Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan. We also plan to fly to Flores and stay in Labuan Bajo and hopefully do a day trip to Komodo Island (if it is still open). Still in the early stages of planning and will have about 3 1/2 wks.
