Ot -- Trace Adkins

OP here

Just want to say you have all been really great  at helping me learn a bit about CW.

This is not the CW I was first exposed to in the early 70's when it was all about trucks and six packs of beer. This new CW is just so sweet and wonderful......again I'm saying this as a classical violinist who is totally stepping out. :thumbsup2

I have his book and read it. You have to brace yourself, since it is more of "ramblings of Trace Adkins along intwinde with my life story". Some very interesting things have happened to him in his life though. Things you don't see coming. Saw him in concert in January and he had the giggles the whole show, it was too funny!

another song you all might like is Rodney Atkins "Watching You"

Driving through town just my boy and me
With a happy meal in his booster seat
Knowing that he couldn't have the toy
Till his nuggets were gone
A green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath
His fries went a flying and his orange drink covered his lap
Well then my four year old said a four letter word
That started with "s" and I was concerned
So I said son now now where did you learn to talk like that

[Chorus one]

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and I prayed real hard
Said Lord please help me help my stupid self
Then this side of bedtime later that night
Turning on my son's Scooby Doo nightlight
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
And spoke to God like he was talking to a friend
And I said son now where'd you learn to pray like that

[Chorus two]

He said I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
We like fixing things and holding mama's hand
Yeah we're just alike, hey ain't we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I've been watching you

[Bridge]

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug
Said my little bear is growing up
He said but when I'm big I'll still know what to do

[Chorus three]

Cause I've been watching you dad, ain't that cool
I'm your buckaroo, I wanna be like you
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are
By then I'll be as strong as superman
We'll be just alike, hey won't we dad
When I can do everything you do
Cause I've been watching you

LOVe this song too. I am a huge country music lover. My boys like this song too because it talks about happy meals, Scooby Doo and Superman.

"I've Been Watching You" by Rodney Adkins (lyrics previously posted) is one of my favorite songs. I could never relate to it because we have 2 daughters. Then, Mr. Adkins released "Cleaning this Gun" and it I swear he wrote it about our family. He talks about the day a teenage boy will come to his door to take his daughter out on a date. The chorus goes...

"C'mon on in, boy, sit on down and tell me 'bout yourself.
So you like my daughter, do you now? Yeah we think she's something else.
She's her daddy's girl, her mama's world, she deserves respect that's what she'll get, now ain't it son? Ya'll go out and have some fun.
I'll see you when you get back, probably be up all night, still cleaning this gun."

It's so appropriate to our family because my husband is not only an avid hunter, but he is also a police officer. He has a lot of guns to clean!:rotfl:

On another note, the biggest tearjerker song that gets me every time is a song by Gary Allan. I think it's called "Tough Little Boys", but I am not sure. The chorus ends with "When tough little boys grow up to be dads, they turn into big babies again." That song was playing on the radio when my DH left the hospital right after our first child was born. (He had to run home and feed the dogs) It makes me cry every time!:sad1:

Here is the link. It has Trace's picture on it. I liked him before and after watching the Celebrity Apprentice I like him even more!!
I'm going the itunes to get that song to support the charity.

I love country music!! What other genre can make you laugh, cry, and think about life like it can?? And most country music stars seem like people that you could sit down and have dinner with or hang out with. They just seem like normal people instead of "celebrities" :snooty:

I love Trace. We were really rooting for him on that show. We have all of his CDs. He really is a good guy...nothing phony or artificial there.

We lost our oldest son in December and when I first heard his new song it really hit home. DH was crying like a baby when he sang it on the show (he would kill me if he knew I told anybody!).

I heard that donations to his charity really increased over the last week. Just from people who have been impressed by his performance on the show!

So very sorry for your loss.

Huge country music fan here, I don't come on this part of the board often but I did tonight and saw the thread.

Another good one of Rodney Atkins is Invisibly Shaken. I heard him sing it live when he opened for Brad and had goosebumps from the song.

Kinda OT, Kinda On Topic but Trace was at WDW a few weeks ago with his family!

One of my friends saw him at WDW!, they were eating at the same place. She got a pic and sent it to me, it was not very clear, but you could tell it was him!

Does anyone know where I could get the background music to Trace's new song? I think it would be the perfect song to have sung for Mother's Day.

Hey Mandy...I'm sure you saw it but I was talking about you earlier in the thread.

Folks, Mandy is the Diser that has met the singer of Stealing Cinderella and many other CM stars!!

Hey darlin. Yeah I did, I figured not many others have met him.

 Thanks

Did you watch Trace on CA? I really wanted him to win but when they let him sing I figured then that he had not won.

I did catch the finale of it I hadn't watched it much any other time. I wish he would of won but I posted in the CA thread that he said on a radio show that the charity benefit was the same night as the CMA's, which hindered his ability to get people up there.

I think Trace should have won but I'm biased since I have two kids with food allergies! I cried like a baby whenever Trace choked up talking about the charity and his daughter. I love the song he sang at the finale "You're going to miss this". I-Pod is donating a $1 to Trace's charity everytime someone downloads this song and I think it is well worth it! So, if you like the song, please go download and support a good cause, the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network. I think this link might work

However, I think this offer is only for a limited time so hurry up!
Also, thanks to everyone who posted such great songs on this thread. I love them and plan to put them all together to make a CD for my hubby. Can I just add one - not sure the female singer but it's about "if you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance" - you know that one? Always makes me cry!

I also loved him on Celebrity Apprentice. I am not a CM lover but used to be. I think its time to change my car radio stations. He was awesome. I to wanted him to win but knew he wouldnt. He was to nice to beat the Brit..

Another Trace tearjerker is "Arlington". He is a Great Artist and seems to also be an amazing person too!

I'm not really much of a CW fan at all though I have worked in the music industry for years. There are a few "crossover Country" artists that are great that you may want to check out like Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts.

Rascal Flatts has a song that will reduce any parent to tears called "Skin". Listen with a box of Kleenex.
