I hope someone can help me with this.

DH sold an item on Ebay and unlike me I always make sure I have a box for each item I sell, he can't find one around the house big enough for his item.

If he takes his item to a UPS store do they have an option of packing his item for him? I have never dealt with UPS at least on the shipping side.
If so, is there a set fee for packing materials or are they free since you are using them to ship your package?

TIA!!!

Oh No---they charge you for everything. I paid them one time to pack something for me. He picked out a box, and started using all sorts of packing material to wrap the item, and fill the box with. I was impressed he was taking such care. Then he added it all up for the charge--I almost fell on the floor. The cost was enormous. Don't get me wrong--I would rather him pack carefully and charge me, then pack carelessly---but if I had known I was going to be charged piece by piece rather than a flat packing fee--I would have just bought the box from them, and then packed myself.

So....yes you can pay to have them pack for you--but they will charge for every bit of the packing supplies--not just one fee for the packing.

Thank you for the fast reply!!!! I think I will go to the in laws and look around and see if they don't have any boxes before getting one at the UPS store.

I can't believe they charged you piece by piece. :earseek: As far as I'm concerned if you are using them to ship your package, the packing materials, box and all, should be free like the USPS. But of course they have to get every last penny out of your pocket.

Thanks again!!!

Packing materials aren't free at the Post Office - just Priority Mail & Express Mail packaging (boxes, bags, envelopes, tape, labels). Things like bubble wrap have to be purchased.
