Hi all
That's so funny about that woman with the train to Brussels

Poor woman though when she realised
Small World - what a nightmare with your car - glad it's sorted but you don't need the hassle do you esp as it was a new car! I've had a mare with things 'breaking' recently - first my 6 mth old tumble dryer (thankfully still under warranty), then my laptop, then my vaccum cleaner blew up and now my mobile won't charge up

It just keeps on going!!! I had to laugh when you said about the bonnet of your car - I used to live somewhere where they undertook irregular on the spot, car security checks - the amount of times I was stopped and couldn't remember how to open the bonnet

The guy doing the check must have thought I was a right bimbo
Emma - I'm disgusted to hear it was a hoax re that girl. So pleased they found the people, what's the bet thought it's youngish kids and all they can do is give them a warning
Well, yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster for us. Sorry this is long!!!
Got up am and found DD1's lip and gums all swollen (you may recall she had two dental abscesses caused by a fall and trauma to her teeth when she was 20 mths old)

. So as soon as the dental hosp opened I called the Children's dept and was told I had to take her in to the casualty. By the time I got the girls ready and got up there it was about 9.50 am (the casualty is open until 10.30 am then again from 2.30 pm). I reported to reception and this snooty woman told me they were full and I'd have to bring DD1 back at 2.30 pm as they wouldn't see anymore children (bearing in mind it's a huge treck and I had DD2 with me too!)

. I could have cried and tried to explain what was happening! She told me to come back for 2 pm and she'd ensure 'DD was front of the queue'. I got outside and took a look at DD1 and just knew I had to do something and couldn't leave it so I called the Children's reception direct and they said that DD1 needed to be seen and to ignore the casualty reception and just go straight up to their dept!

I got there and we were seen within 5 mins of arriving by the head of the dept - a paed dental consultant.
She already had DD1's records and knew her 'case'. Originally DD1 was due to go in for a general anaesthetic to have her tooth out next Tues but they were umming and arghing about it as they weren't sure if it was one or two teeth and so had cancelled her op and said we just needed to go in Tues to discuss further 'tests' to try and find out which teeth it was!

I had said to the original Dental cons that I was worried about delaying the op even further but she wasn't too bothered and said there was 'plenty of time'!!
So, this Cons decided to try and do the test on DD1 - it meant sticking a 'plastic' probe like a needle directly into the abscessed gum and taking an x-ray - no anaesthetic or anything!

DD1 was amazing - she wasn't keen but I was able to talk her round

After that they knew it was one tooth and the Dentist said they had to operate there and then due to the swelling as it meant the infection was travelling and could become fatal

So, DD1 ended up having the tooth out just with local anaesthetic and entonox to keep her 'relaxed' - I was amazed that she really did take it in her stride - so proud of her esp as she only turned 4 a few months ago
So now she looks a little odd, bless her, but on the whole she's great, and the best thing was, no general anaesthetic which was fab!
She loved her Mulan dress which I managed to get as a present from us for being such a good, brave, girl and the tooth fairy brought her a shiny coin last night under her pillow which she was so excited about this morning
I'm so pleased it's all done now, I was initially against her having the tooth out but the pain and the swelling made it fairly urgent and now hopefully things will just settle down. So, only have to wait about another 3-4 years for her adult tooth to descend
So, I'm tentatively exhaling a deep breath right now!!
