Good morning to all. Been really busy all week at work, trying to get everything in order before my hols this week. Hurrah, no more alarm clock - but then who need one with a 5 year old in the house :rotfl:

DH is converting our loft so the house is an absolute tip - I've lots of plans to keep Lewis busy over the next week and out of the way of the work in the house. I'm really looking forward to spending time with him instead of the usual shopping/washing that goes on at the weekend.

Weather looking pretty gloomy just now - no rain yet but it looks very likely.

Enjoy your lunch Jenny - I'll look forward to reading about that later.:goodvibes

emma i am dealing with it quite well until you get me going lol

me and ash have our meal plans finalized. i think i need help!!

I've got my meals planned for December - subject to alterations!! :lmao:

Brambles Review

Shortly after our main course arrived I realised that I had not only forgotten to take any photos of the food, I had completely forgotten the camera! (Clearly I will need a lot more practise at this food porn business!) All I can do is apologise and put it down to old age! :rotfl:

When we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty so we had our waiter (Charlie) pretty much to ourselves. It was a sunny day and the front doors were open so it was lovely and cool inside. The restaurant itself was very cool with a light & airy feel, blonde wood and cream chairs with heather coloured blinds and shades.

We ordered our drinks first and decided to go for fruity & fizzy – strawberry Bellini for Kelly and a raspberry one for me. These were a great choice for a summer’s day, sparkling and special!

We had a choice of a light lunch or set menu and we both decided to go for the 3 course menu for £17.50. We both knew that the “Special cheesecake” was a must so then we worked our way back through the menu! Kelly went for the “lightly curried pot of Dorset mussels with warm focaccia toasts” to start, while I opted for the “parfait of chicken liver and fois gras, brioche toasts and a shallot & port marmalade”. While we were waiting, Charlie came back with two little cups of the soup of the day (broccoli & stilton) and bread rolls with butter and half a bulb of roasted garlic. Now, we had avoided the soup thinking it may be too stilton-y (not being big fans of stilton) but this was absolutely delicious, rich and creamy and very green! (Think Shrek!)

Starters were up next and the mussels were served in a little creuset casserole pan, so cute I may have to get one! My parfait was a lovely light choice and was similar to the one you get in Auberge.

We both chose the “Pan roasted rump of Dorset beef with buttered pomme puree and a piquant pepper & red wine sauce” for our main course. These were again beautifully presented and we tucked in straight away, eager to taste the next course. The beef was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth while the buttery potatoes complimented it perfectly. The sauce added just the right peppery hit and green beans finished the dish. :cloud9:

Time for another Bellini before the arrival of the “Special Cheesecake”. This was, as expected, a vanilla cheesecake, but it certainly was a bit special. I had got hold of my friend’s camera by this point so I can at least share with you a glimpse of dessert heaven...

To sum up, wonderful food in a lovely relaxed setting, can't wait to go back!

Ooohhh, let us know if it's any good - and let us know how the trip planning goes!! :thumbsup2

Eclipse was quite good, action & a bit of comedy. I haven't read the books yet as i'm usually disappointed with the film versions, especially after Angels & Demons & The Lovely Bones.

Disney looks like it will be going ahead providing I can get the time off work. I will submit my leave tomorrow & should hear very soon. I shouldn't have a problem as by the looks of it there aren't many hours been taken that week:thumbsup2

Evening everyone:goodvibes I'm feeling a bit rough today. Was at a wedding all day yesterday and think I overdid the vino:drinking:

I haven't even booked Halloween yet but I was pricing up flights for the beginning of December. I can't take time off but we could go a friday night at teatime and fly back at 9ish on the Sunday. Flights £236 and dreamcastle £203. Seems too good a deal to pass and we've never seen santa at DLRP and DD is getting older and she might not believe much longer and ...... any other excuses anyone:rolleyes:
