OT: Need advice about missing Ipod package

UPS lost something of mine from Amazon and I called Amazon. They sent a new one out right away. Three weeks later, the original item came. It was a $5 item and when I called, Amazon said to keep it, since it would cost more to ship back than it was worth.

I'm another saying work with Amazon. Our coffee maker died so I ordered a new one and paid for overnight delivery (even with the delivery charge it was cheaper than buying local). The next day I got notice about a delivery exception and the coffee maker wouldn't be delivered until the next day. Amazon also emailed me saying that my shipping would be refunded.

Amazingly the coffee maker still showed up when it originally was supposed to. UPS sent out another truck with the shipments that had been late getting over from Orlando.

I had ordered something from Amazon and knew it was supposed to be delivered that day. I saw the truck on my block and waited for delivery. I saw the truck leave and went online to check and it said delivered. Well it wasn't delivered to me. I contacted Amazon and they immediately sent out another item and said if the first one showed up to refuse delivery. Well 3 days later a neighbor down the street (that I had never met) brought my package to me. Why on earth were they holding on to it for 3 days is beside me.

I would guess going out of their way to deliver a package they received which they did not order to a neighbor they didn't know, wasn't exactly high on their to do list.

When UPS came to deliver the resent package I told them the story and refused delivery. No problem at all.

I would assume the neighbor either was not at home or just found the package.

The regular UPS guy always puts my packages on my front porch. Subs put packages by the garage, usually next to the downspout. Sometimes they leave my packages at my next door neighbor's house. She has a home business and gets daily deliveries. Her husband always delivers the packages over here, even though I've told him to call and we'll come pick up.

ITA - they probably came home from work/school, found the package, called UPS the next day to say that the package was delivered incorrectly, got tired of waiting for pickup and went out of their way to make the delivery on the third day to a stranger.

I would be grateful for their effort instead of criticizing the delivery delay. :thumbsup2

Yeah, it's not their responsibility to deliver UPS packages. One December, I had THREE packages delivered to my house for another address in one week. I didn't know the addressee. My house has numbers on both sides of the mailbox and right beside the door where they left the packages and the number only shares one out of four digits. The first and second times I did take the package down, but after that I called UPS and told them the guy needed to come do his job. I guess that worked, because I didn't get any more of their packages.

I have always delivered packages that were mistakenly left at my house. I would never wait 3 days to deliver it - especially if it was someone 4 houses away from mine.

Definitely contact Amazon. I have had issues in the past and they sent out a replacement with next day delivery (no additional charge). They will re-route the original package back to them and if it does show up they will provide a shipping label to return it.

+1!

I'm the OP and wanted to update.

I got an email from Amazon this afternoon that the full amount has been credited back to my Discover Card.

It's now between Amazon and UPS.

So, at least we got our money back. When I went onto Amazon and clicked the Track button, it says this item is to be intercepted and returned to facility.

When I originally called Amazon, I was put on hold while the rep contacted UPS, then back to me, back to UPS, etc.

Glad I got my money back . :thumbsup2
