OT - need a little info on Michigan

Question - Are there any sites to be seen around Bay City or Port Huron areas or along the way in between those two? We like boat rides, lighthouses, museums, etc. Also are there any nice restaurants or hotels in that area?

Our last time to Michigan we enjoyed Traverse City, Mackinaw, and Frankenmuth. I'd like to repeat the Frankenmuth stop, but add a bit more to the trip while in that area.

Frankenmuth is not too far away from there. Also, (if you like to shop) there is a huge outlet mall in Birch Run. Have fun!

Thanks, we have an outlet mall here too. We are for sure doing Frankenmuth. I just wanted to add another attraction nearby. I noticed that Saginaw Bay is pretty close. I was thinking of driving that highway 25 from Bay City around to Port Huron. My map says that road is scenic.

There are a ton of lighthouses and boat places all around Michigan. The tourist season for this year is just about over though. Check out Michigan.org they will have ideas for the area you're looking for.

I live about 45 mins, S/W of Port Huron. When we drive to port huron from home we skip I-94 and follow 29. It runs along Anchor Bay. Lots of sights, wetlands, towns to drive through. Theres sometimes old ships docked, etc. It's nice around Algonac. Beaches, shops, small communities, etc.

Thanks! I saw where there is a bridge over into Canada. Is there anything over on the Canada side to see?

On the Canadian side, about an hour and a half from the bridge, there is a wonderful provincial park called the Pinery. It's along the lake and there are all sorts of trails and beaches. There are a couple of cute towns along the shore too - like Goderich and Bayfield.
