Ok so if the numbers refer to people on the wheel, why were the numbers of those 6 key characters etched onto the hatch door (the one blown up where Desmond was working)?
Is that just coincidence or is it of significance? Sorry if I am missing something plain and obvious!

they have not fully explained the numbers yet. Numbers were written in the hatch, type in the computer every 108 minutes in the hatch, Hurley won the lottery with the numbers, the numbers were written on the cave the MIB brought Sawyer too and also in the lighthouse that jack destroyed the mirror.

according to the MIB, Jacob has a "thing" for numbers but as far as any other information about the numbers the answers have been slim so you really are not missing much

in the Ben episode, ilana says (i think to sun) that there are only 6 candidates left...
since Ilana knows that locke is dead, which would eliminate him from the original 6 (of the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42), perhaps she's already including kate in the six she's talking about as being the only candidates left for her to protect....

I don't think she's including kate. I there are 5 numbers left, but as Ilana said she doesn't know which Kwan (Sun or Jin) the number refers to. So thus, six people to protect.

yeah, you're not missing anything.....we really don't know what those particular numbers mean yet...if anything more than any of the other numbers...'
other than the obvious, that those particular 6 numbers are used in lots of things..
but there were lots of numbers in the cave and the lighthouse and lots of names we know (like kate's was 51 as mentioned and was in the lighthouse and not crossed out....if you look in lostpedia únder candidates, you'll see all the names listed in the cave and lighthouse that could be seen by the geeks in lost fan world)...

i hope they explain everything all before it's over....

I am SO excited for tonight's episode! I have been intrigued by Richard from the start (as I'm sure most people have). I can't wait to see his story.

Ok -- This episode was so awesome! LOVED IT! And again, when one question is answered, more questions arise... But it was nice to get some answers.

I think that the writers are doing a great job with the end of the series. I realize that all of the questions won't be answered by the end of it, but if some of the major ones will be I'll be happy. And luckily it looks like the way the writers are going there will be answers by the end. Sorry to be so cryptic, but I don't want to give away any spoilers.

BTW -- Love to see Tenerife getting some air. I met my DH there! It's what I like to call my "Oprah story".
