Don't worry we don't understand all the English accents either :goodvibes

Nobody understands my apparantly Northern accent.... :sad2: Some of Robert's younger cousins were scared of me when they first met me 'cause of my accent.....

You're the second young lady that I've heard say that this week Bob. I have a trainee dental nurse who gave up physiotherapy because she was so unhappy. I had a long chat with her this week to check how she's getting on with her evening dental nurse course and we got onto talking about why she gave up uni and she basically said the same as you. She is an extremely academic young lady, with higher A level grades than any of the dentists I work for and she was just forced into it, perhaps forced is too strong - it was expected, from friends, family, teachers etc. It bothered me at first, when I interviewed her I told her she was overqualified and I genuinely thought that she might get bored, but she's been with us almost a year and she's loving it, she's living at home, drives in, she's there when her boyfriend comes home from uni and she's proving to be a valuable member of our team. So I totally agree with you - Uni's not for everyone, but well done for sticking with it and at least now an end is in sight.

I wouldn't have stuck with it if I hadn't been made to to be honest..... Once I'm done I swear to God I'm going to dance in the streets!!!

Well I'm scottish but even I have trouble with some of the scottish accents, especially the Glaswegians.
I think the one accent I have the most trouble with anywhere is teh geordie accent( no offence)

None taken..... I'm not a Geordie, but near enough! Robert never understood a word my Granddad said to him.... He liked him, and Robert said he always seemed happy enough, he just never understood him! Thick accents and all.....

Hurray - I've finished my project proposal and handed it in.

They seem to be pretty good at sorting out the marks for things for this module, so hopefully I should have the results not long after I get back from Slovenia, or if I'm lucky I might even get them returned while I'm on holiday, although we received an extension which presumably means they'll want longer to mark it now.

It's worth 10% of my final project mark, so I'm hoping for a good mark.

Wait till you try your hand at the North East Scot accent. Our Shar Pei who was trained by Diane with her Broch tongue looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. So did nothing I said :lmao:

Slovenia has always seemed good value to me. The terrain is better suited to beginners or low end intermediates, but there's some good resorts near by in Italy and Austria which you can visit quite easily.

This year it's cost me about £1700 for 3 adults and a child, though there were cheaper hotels available which are equally good (I just wasn't quick enough to book it). That money includes flights, transfers to the resort, half board accomidation in the hotel, 2 lift passes, ski rental (3 lots) and carriage for my snowboard.

The snow can be a little varied, but this year it's looking really good.

The well known western europe places (France, Austria, Italy) are generally quite expensive. Generally I've found the eastern European places to be cheapest (Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria), though I've only ever been to Slovenia (Kranjska Gora to be exact) as I love the resort and the people there (the resort rep has recognised me every year I've gone back) :goodvibes

Congratulations and fingers crossed you get the mark you want. :goodvibes

Good Morning :thumbsup2

Can I ask have you finished your trip reports now or is there one still to go? The last one I read was Day 3?

I think she said she'd finish it off at the weekend - I've not seen it posted yet anyway :thumbsup2

Hi everyone, mind if I join in? I've got 2 kids: ds (6) and dd (2). I'm a stay at home mum 3 days a week and 2 days I work in a pre-school for children with special needs. I'm also currently studying to be a social worker.
We had our first trip to DLRP last year. It was meant to be a one off but we didn't expect to fall in love with it quite as much as we did! :rotfl:

We were hoping to squeeze in a trip this year but my brother and his wife had a baby a few weeks ago so we're hoping to spend a couple of weeks in London in July to visit them. We live in Ireland but I was born in London and this will be my first trip back in 18 years so really looking forward to it. However I don't think funds will stretch to two hols so I think DLRP will have to wait till next year. :sad2:

So thats me... looking forward to chattin with you all.
