My son already has a leapster, plays it everyday, absolutely loves it. Now he wants the Star Wars Leapster 2. Do the differences between the two make it worth spending the extra $50 on a new one? How much downloadable content is available?
Thanks
Lora

Is it an actual Star Wars Leapster 2 game system or is he just interested in the Star Wars Leapster 2 game? I'm just asking because the Star Wars Leapster 2 game will still play on the regular Leapster system. Good luck!

My DS bought the black Star Wars Leapster 2 with his own $ several months ago. The downloadable content is like two games, so nothing spectacular. The online learning path monitoring is cool, but I haven't looked at his in a while. Really it doesn't do much more than the old Leapster except look a little cooler.

Our scenario was a little different in that my DS is dying for a Nintendo DS...and I'd really like him to keep playing his educational Leapster games for just a bit longer, so I kind of talked him into the cool looking Leapster 2 over saving longer for a DS. Especially since he has so many age-appropriate cartridges that still keep his interest.

So selling him on the "older kid looking" cool black Leapster did work and he's playing it and enjoying it, however he's going to ask Santa for a DS, and I assume that once he gets his DS he will no longer play his Leapster.

Oh, and a funny thing is that the built-in games are slightly different...and my DS still will pick up his old Leapster to play sometimes! And he also wants my DH to play the other Leapster at the same time...I think to pretend to be playing together as if they were DS's - LOL!

I don't know if my rambling helps at all! Best of luck!

My son got the Star Wars Leapster 2 from my aunt and cousin, when it was on sale for 20 bucks at Target. Few months ago. It comes with Jedi Reading, if I recall correctly (or Math...we soon after bought the other one, so I'm not totallly sure which one it has).

I just looked at the game box, and it says that the game works with ALL leapster systems...it states "extended play" for Leapster 2.

So really, the main difference between the normal ones and the Star Wars one is...one is bright green (from what I've seen at the store) and one is black with Yoda in gray on the front.

Probably not worth $50 more. But if you can wait for a sale again...worth it. Or if you can call it only $30 more, since you get the one game and from what I've seen the games tend to be 20, 25 bucks, maybe that can justify it. :)
