I signed up for Avon a few months ago and basically only have one to three "customers" each month. Not a big deal, but the problem is that I have NEVER made any money from this. In all honesty, last month I ended up with 86 dollars of extra charges because of all of the obscure charges. Not to mention that they sent me a package with the hopes I would send it. It's really aggravating and I just wanted to know if I'm doing something wrong. I got into this hoping that I could make a little extra money since I'm not working, but all in all, I have paid in a total of about 35-40 dollars, and I have NOTHING to show for it other than a bunch of boxes, catalouges (that I don't order) and huge invoices. Should I just give this up or is there actually a way to make money with not having many people buying?

It seems that the way most people make money is by getting other people to sell and being in their "downline". I have one person under me and she has either not been able to sell or has quit, not sure which.

I have had some profit on some campaigns but not much.

Unless someone devotes a lot of time to going out and rounding up customers, I don't see it as a big money maker. The rep I signed up under has the kind of personality that jumps in any conversation and asks if the people buy Avon and handing out brochures--I am not quite that bold. I sell mostly to coworkers and family. It mostly buys my products and did buy a few stocking stuffers over Christmas. It hasn't been the "extra income" I had hoped for when I signed up. They keep saying the economy won't hurt Avon, but it sure has here. Some of my biggest customers have stopped ordering or reduced their orders because of lack of money.

I stared selling a few months ago.. I havent made much because I have been buying. I do have a website and have received some orders on there.

What I started doing is only ordering 1 campaign a month and I cut down on the books I order. I ordered 10 books for campaign 4. I dont sell enough to place orders every 2 weeks. If I worked in an office maybe I would do more..

If you have facebook let them know you are selling it.. try to get the word out.

Did you season in Campaign 6 there is Princess and the Frog items coming out? Very cute.

I did see the Princess and the Frog stuff! Very cute! I'm just not sure how i'm coming out behind. Even when I had a bunch of sales around Christmas that were online orders shipped to people's houses, I STILL came out behind. I was just looking for maybe 50 extra dollars a month to cover my fuel costs. I'm wondering if it's not worth my time? I could understand being involved if I bought the product, but I have only bought one two things and they were stocking stuffers. It doesn't help that the lady who recruited me has dropped off the face of the earth and anytime I contact the other lady (who is the head in my district), she tells me to call the 800 number if I have questions or look at the website until I can find an answer. That's probably even more frustrating.

yeah thhey tend to fall off the face of the earth like you said...

What is getting you the extra charges? I would cut down on your book orders, as far as bags I ordered a bunch my first orders, I dont order samples, shipping is free if you submit your order on time.

I know now my % has gone that I earn :headache:

That e-rep charge really messes with my head. I wish that they would only charge you if you don't use it. To charge and then credit and charge and credit is beyond absurd to me. I also keep getting customer charges (the 75 cent) for customers I don't have. Last time they charged me for 10 customers and I only caught it because I was on the phone with them. I told them that I had only bought for one person. I also got screwed on some credits for things I returned (their fault) and was charged with shipping. I don't order any of the books now and don't buy samples or anything else really. I feel like every time I turn around, my bill is higher and higher and I have no orders! It's really frustrating and I'm turning in my Avon uniform and quitting. If only Avon were more straight forward....and if their call center wasn't in India!!!!!

I thank everybody for your help!

I wouldn't count on making any real money unless you plan on recruiting and hoping that your recruits also recruit an awful lot. Have you checked out the happy dance website yet? The girls there are actually pretty helpful.

I second the website. Everyone is really helpful. I started in Sept. and haven't gotten that many customers yet either. Some campaigns I do well and others no orders. I've never had any problems with the charges and the best advice I ever got form the Happy Dance website was to STOP the direct delivery if you're brand new. Cause then you get 4-6 deliveries of new items per yr and good luck selling it. I go through my invoice and all the charges have been upfront I think. Some ppl do really well right from the start but for most of us I think it takes longer than we'd like. Most businesses take 2yrs to really get going and AVON is your business. I also consider myself fortunate to have a very involved DM who does her best to help new reps. get started. I know from the boards that a lot of them just do the district meetings and that's it:sad2:
