Ironweed Films is a production company that distributes progressive, socially-conscious films on DVD. It works as a subscription service...every month, subscribers receive a DVD, usually containing one feature film and several related or unrelated short subject films. This month's feature film, for example, is called "Black Gold"...it is an eye-opening documentary about the coffee trade. From Ironweed's website...
Ironweed Films encourages subscribers to spread awareness about the film topics by holding free screenings in private homes, coffee houses, etc., which brings me to the point of this post. Are any people in central FL interested in getting together to watch Ironweed films on a regular or semi-regular basis? My thought was to hold the screenings in a meeting space at the Celebration Hotel on a Saturday afternoon (unless someone wants to donate their living room floor). Then we can all head into WDW afterwards for dinner and other Disney what-not.
Do you know where your latte comes from? Follow Ethiopian coffee co-op manager Tadesse Meskela as he travels the world seeking fair trade policies for his growers in the exploding international coffee market. This mesmerizing documentary tells the dark backstory of coffee, from the raw beans to your to-go cup.
