Just a FYI to all- it is illegal to reproduce a photographer's photos without permission. (Many do not know, this includes posting them on the internet.) The images are copyrighted works. Ask, many professional photographers are starting to include an option to include low resolution pics (such as sharing on My Space, etc.) Some may also offer rights to copy photographs. Without that, however, you are breaking the law, disrespecting the photographer, and generally setting yourself up for some bad karma.
Without that though- copying photographs is theft. You don't have to agree with how much it costs for a reprint, but by chosing a photographer, you agree to those prices to cover his/her time, talents, and business expenses, in addition to just the paper that portrait is printed on.
You wouldn't go to the mall, decide prices are too expensive, and then shoplift things to get them cheaper. If you need a less expensive option- as said, you can take them yourself, go to a chain studio, or find a student or someone starting up who is looking to build a porfolio at a discount to you.
I have the rights to our photos. That was a part of the package. They can posted anywhere for any reason.
