In January 07 several of you CA dis'rs helped me out over a few days when my niece was injured in a UH-1 (Heuy) helicopter accident in Southern California and we were having difficulty getting info because she was on a classified mission. In the crash she broke her back and was told she "may" walk again but her career as a pilot was over.
Well these Dr's didn't know my niece...
This article Mended Wings was in this months California National Guard magazine and talks about what she has had to go through and I just had to share and brag
.
The article mentions that everyone walked away from the crash, what it doesn't say is that my niece is the reason they walked away. When she saw what was happening and saw that the pilot was not handling it properly she reacted and pulled the helicopter up and turned it so that she took the hit of the crash instead of the other soldiers.
So the news is that she is back to active duty 100% and flying again...
What makes it even more remarkable is she is 5'4" and maybe weights 110 lbs. LOL
I don't have many hero's but she is certainly one of mine and I just had to brag about her. We are so proud.
