OT: Elf Capades 2009..... post your ideas/past elf pranks here! :o)

Our "sister" Elf arrived today. I can't wait for the kids to go to sleep so I can check her out. Her brother Sebastian made his debut last year and the kids had a blast seeing what he would do next.

FOUND IT! This is the letter that "came with" Jingles (I just winged it. typed it in red and green.. and put it on santa stationary)

My niece is a bit nervous about strange things coming to life and doing things LOL so santa had to be a bit reassuring. (I live with my mother at the moment that's why it says he's at Grammas)

My Dear Sweet Lily and Jack,

I hope you will take care of my little elf Jingle. He is so excited to be at your Gramma’s house! He will let me know if you have been good or bad but I just know you will be good.

It was so nice to see you both on the Polar Express! My elves all had so much fun with you and I’m sorry I couldn’t spend more time with you but I had so many toys to make for Christmas!

Jingle insisted on bringing presents for the both of you! I bet if you keep being as good as you’ve been he’ll continue to bring little surprises for you!

Now don’t be afraid of him! He’s just like one of your toys but I bet he’ll keep you laughing until Christmas! I will pick him up and take him back home to the North Pole with me on Christmas Eve.

Love and kisses,

Santa

p.s. Please don’t forget to leave milk and cookies on Christmas Eve! I loved the ones you left me last year!

I am wondering if any of you could help me...This is a question about a certain Elf. When my Mom was younger her and all her brothers and sisters got an Elf, that she loved and adored. It was not the cutest thing by any means, but it still had sentimental value. Over the years she kept him and recently we have moved and he got lost in the move. :confused3 I am wondering if any of you would be able to help me find an Elf that looks like hers did, it looks kind of like the Elf on a Shelf, with the pointed nose, but this ones legs came up through his arms, my Mom is in her forties now, so this elf is probably about 30 years old, I know I won't be able to find the exact one, but I want one similar. So I am looking for an elf, similar to the Elf on a Shelf, but slightly bigger and his arms come up through his legs?? Any help on helping me find this or ideas on where to look would be sooo appreciated!

Have you tried ebay? There are lots of little elves like that on there. HTH

I searched ebay for Kneehuggers: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=kneehugger Maybe one of these is similar.

Thank you so much! I had looked on ebay before but was not sure of the keywords to look for; kneehugger, pixie elf, japan, 60's!! This worked out perfectly! Thank You...Thank You....I hope you and your family have a wondeful Christmas! I know it is early, but this will help me make my Mom's Christmas a lot happier!

Glad I could spread a little pixie dust for you! :lovestruc You have a wonderful Christmas with your family as well!

So I just told DH that an elf was coming to stay with us. TALK ABOUT HILARIOUS! He had no clue what I was talking about...

Me: I'm so excited! We're gonna have an elf come stay through the holidays with us!
DH: What?
Me: An elf!
DH: Where is he going to stay?
Me: In a sleeping bag...
DH -blank, speechless face-
Me: The whole family is going to have elves this year!
DH: Amanda, you know I am scared of midgets!

ROFL! I know that's not politically correct but he thought I was going to hire a "little person" to come live with us to be an "elf"!

That is too funny. My neighbor is a little person. I can't imagine her dressed up as an elf.

How tall are the elves? I looked up some on Amazon, but I can't tell from the description. I wanted to just purchase an elf separately and not get the book. TIA

The one I got from Amazon.com last year is the boy elf w/ the red suit... he's got a cute face and is about 8"-9" ? tall... he doesn't have flexible arms and legs as some of the elves do.... I just ordered a "sister" for Charlie. She's en route now from Amazon.com (she has the green suit)_I think I paid around $13 for each of them.

Edited to say that I didn't get the official "Elf on the Shelf" elf....I actually came across some really cute ones at a local speciality toy store yesterday-all different ones with long flexible arms and legs. They were each under $10 and adorable! Too late for me though since I already have the other 2.... :)

So my laptop is saying thank you for the coffee shower it got sprayed with.....that is soo funny. Hiring a person to come live with you....OMG thats so funny....:rotfl2:

Our elf first visited last year, but he was not mischievous...he would leave notes, candy, pjs, small gifts. I like the idea of mischief, except that our elf's job is to report back to Santa on how well the boys are behaving, and how much Christmas Spirit they have.

 SO... this year we are adding a magical reindeer (I found one at the magic elf website). It's a baby reindeer, so he's "in training", and he will be quite mischievous this year. :) This way - I still have the elf to keep the boys playing nicely (worked great last year), but we can have fun with the reindeer. I'm sure the elf will leave notes from time to time chastizing the reindeer/apologizing for his "episodes". :goodvibes

thanks for all of the fun ideas! i'm making a calendar tonight to plan out what this little reindeer will get into!

Phooey, I don't have a Target near me!!!!!!
Oh I loved their Dollar section.

BUT Lowe's workshop for kids is on December 5th, and they're making Gingerbread Houses out of wood, so this will be the perfect house for our elf!
https://www.lowesbuildandgrow.com/

Oooh, Thanks so much for sharing this! Dh will be taking our youngest to do this project. Our local Target seems to be missing inventory at the moment... shelves are filled with cases of water bottles.

I've looked at target twice this week for those houses with no luck, but now I'm on a mission to find them. We picked up a reindeer at CVS for 4.99. Santa will be sending her this year since we have a new puppy to watch over too.

I am going elf on a shelf - Gift shopping tommorow - using some of my - mypoints gift cards!!! :) I hope I can find some stuff
