Hi everyone !!! I'm posting this here because this is where I spend all my time. My DD is in the final stages of the college application process and I am looking for advice on how to get thru it all *For me, not her* She is taking it all in stride and I'm the one who's stressed. :sad2: She is my oldest, so this is all new. We've visited the schools, narrowed the search down and are finalizing the applications, but how do you get thru it? I want to make sure she is making the right choices, she knows what she wants in a college, as far as size, location to home, curriculum, etc., but I just want to be done with it all. Any tips, suggestions?

That's great that she isn't stressed about it-though that may change when she has to make a decision. I've been through this once with my oldest who is in her second year of college across the country, and I'm about to start again with my son, a hs jr. It can be stressful because you question if you are making the right decision. All I can tell you is to go with her/your gut and once she has committed, make sure she gives it a chance. She's not locked in forever if she truly doesn't like it, but I hear about so many kids that panic a week or so after arriving at school and want to leave, but by the end of the first month when college is in full swing, they are loving it. I don't believe there is only one right school. You know your child best as far as how adaptable she is. You can always do another school visit, maybe even sit in on some classes. Have you been on collegeconfidential.com? You can go there and ask people questions about their school. Many schools have chat sessions the admissions department sets up, when you can ask current students about their college life. Collages will also have students call people who were accepted and haven't responded yet to see if they can answer questions/concerns. It's a big decision, but you will get through it. I feel much more prepared to do this the second time around. Your daughter is also doing very well if she is almost done with her applications so early in the year. Remember you probably won't get any financial aid information until March or April next year if that will influence your decision.
Good luck to you both!:woohoo:
