Are you having a choice of Main courses or a set menu ?

Are you having a choice of Main courses or a set menu ?

We have to have a set menu.... The Garden says they've had a lot of problems in the past when a choice is offered. So we've got to decide a main set menu and a Veggie Set Menu....

Whilst loads of it sounds super yummy, Robert doesn't eat fish and I don't eat Red meat, so we're a bit limited as to what we can actually have! We need veggie options too though.... We're also trying to stick to £15 and under for the main dish... £20 a person for the main dish alone is too much for us!

I've highlighted my choices. You can't go wrong with soup as a starter, plus it's cheap. I don't know anyone who doesn't like soup. I love goat's cheese, so I'd choose that. As you and Robert don't eat fish or red meat, I'd go for roast chicken. Go for what you think will be eaten - you know your guests. Even my fussy kids love roast chicken, so I'm guessing most people will eat and enjoy it. Soup, chicken and sticky toffee or creme brulee would be less than £25 per head.

I actually don't like soup.... There's a first for you!

I love Goats Cheese, but my veggie auntie (one of them) can't stand it and she would make a big big fuss about it....

I like the sound of that chicken, but Robert doesn't (He's a fusser too!)....

The Veggie option you've picked seems the one of choice for the two veggies I've spoken to!!

We currently have in mind:

Starters-

Chicken and Pancetta Salad
Vegetables à la Gréque

Mains-

Either The Pheasant, or the Supreme of Chicken with Mozzerella and Parma Ham.
Veggies- Mushroom and Leek Pie

Dessert- ?????

I think venues prefer set menus as it is easier for them to plan & works out cheaper.

My sister had a Soup, Christmas dinner & Christmas pudding for her menu as she was getting married 5 days before Christmas.

The roast beef & yorkshire pudding sound lovely

Which dessert does everyone here like the sound of best?

• Chocolate and raspberry brownie with fresh raspberries and £4.50 clotted cream
• Warm sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce £4.50
• Glazed lemon tart with fresh raspberries £4.95
• Hazelnut meringue with summer or winter berries £5.50
• White chocolate cheesecake with Malteser shot £5.50• Exotic fruit in cinnamon syrup with honeyed yoghurt £5.95
• Raspberry crème brûlée with hazelnut shortbread £5.95
• Bread and butter pudding with crème anglaise £4.95

I'm looking for a general opinion! Ignore prices, etc!

Highlighted ones would be my choice

You don't like soup!!! Do you want chicken in the starter and the main? I would go for chicken as a main because people tend to be less fussy about chicken. You won't please everyone. We had brandy snap baskets as part of our dessert and that's all I remember, because they were so crunchy it sounded like a cereal advert. People shouldn't complain - they are getting a lovely free meal and an invitation to a wedding.

I really am going to iron now.

I know theres a lot of people like me on here who like looking at menus, so I figured I'd post it for you all to look at.... :goodvibes

That was my worry about a chicken starter and a chicken main.... The only problem is that Robert doesn't like the look of any other starter.... I might just give him a bash about until he learns to eat fish! Lol!

I'm sure we won't please everyone, but we can try! :thumbsup2

Lol at the Brandy Snap thing! I swear those things damage ones teeth too much!! :lmao:

I'm hoping the free meal aspect will dissuade complaints!

I remember Brians mum making such a fuss about out wedding menu - that was nearly 18 years ago and you didnt choose what you liked it was what everyone expected

The men had to have beef on the menu and god forbid you were vegetarian :rotfl:

I would loved to get married again on my terms ;)

You not up for a WDW vow Renewal then?? ;)

What would you do differently?

:rotfl2: Yes, we had roast beef for that exact reason. I've never been to a wedding where I haven't eaten a melon starter. I don't think I ate very much at my wedding tbh - too excited!

Are the venue willing to make an exception to you & Rob? in that you can pick something different to the guests? The hotel my sister got married at allowed this. It may make it a bit easier for you to choose.
