Im totally bummed.

My SIL also didn't make it, but a day or two later she was invited to be a transcriber for the voice calls....how are you at typing?

The one I have most difficulty with "Who is XXxx XXXX". I always try the biography site and the star sites. Then I google the name either gives me several names or none. My answer then goes something like "There are several xxxx xxxxx can you tell me where they live or more information". I don't want to give out too much info in case they are not a nice person. What do all of you do. Thanks.

HELP ME! i've been using firefox 2.0 and it updated itself this morning and now i can't get into chacha! every time i sign on it takes 4-5 tries at least to get a query and when i do, it interrupts my connection! i've already restarted my computer and that didn't help!

I like pipl . com too. It will pull up white pages listings as well as MySpace pages and a lot of other listings from the web.

Since there are usually multiple listings, I do about the same thing you do - tell them I have multiple listings and ask for more information. If it is narrowed down and I can give them address/phone, I do it. If it's unlisted, I just tell them that.

I always find it interesting that a lot of guides hesitant about answering because of the age or intention of the texter (a LOT of discussion on the ChaCha forums about it) - I have always assumed they are honest people who really just need information. Or they are looking for their own name and want to know what ChaCha will say! Perhaps I'm just naive that way.

Can you do a system restore to your configuration from like yesterday, before the update? Mine updated also, but I *think* it has been working OK. You could also just download FireFox 3.0 from Mozilla's site - ChaCha works OK with it now (I just did it the other day).

I agree with you there. I am being payed to answer the question so far I have done my best to get them a response. Its not like we have special access to information any random schmo with a computer doesn't have. So even if they text us for info on a person if they really want that info they can find it w/o us. But I accept their money to give them a straight answer. If I get a who is question I usually go to how many of me and tell them how many are there and to narrow it down for next guide. Thats after I check imdb to make sure its not a famous person. If I can see their location or there is some previous history I just use whitepages.

Yea you will get an email invitation I think it took 3 hours or so till I heard back iirc. I havent heard of anyone who wasnt initially invited to be one but then again doesnt mean it has never happened. Good luck hope you make it.

I am sooo excited!! I did the sim test last night and just got an email saying I have been accepted as a ChaCha Text (SMS) Guide!!! I really thought I bombed because the system kept locking up and I didn't get to watch the videos because my system was freaking out and I still made it!!

They're cutting the pay to $.15 per question for NEW guides, starting July 17th!You don't get the 20-cents until you've served for 30 days, or 1,000 questions.

But this shouldn't affect anyone who is already "on board" before then!

"...Any Guide who has passed the Simulator test and who has been activated as a full-fledged Guide into the ChaCha system by July 17th will not be affected by this change...."

So, I guess if you're thinking of signing up, better do it QUICK if you want to get the full $.20

Wonder how long it will take for ChaCha to be sued because of an incorrect answer or one that was meant to be a joke and was taken literally.

I had a question about taking adderall and over dosing. Told them what the average dosage (and lowest) that I found and told them to call their doctor. Also got one about how no one likes me and no one is ever there for me. I'm always really positive with those, but I've seen a few rude answers before.

How are you guys answering those types of queries? These types make me a little nervous.

thanks! i restarted my computer a 2nd time and that seemed to do the trick! i'd just cashed out for the first time a couple hours earlier and was kinda in a panic to build my balance back up some, lol. seeing it below 10.00 is depressing-but checking my FIB account and seeing 500.00 in there is awesome!

ChaCha is so painfully slow right now.

I like working for ChaCha, but the questions are making me more and more uncomfortable lately. I know you can't abort any questions just because you don't want to answer them. But, sometimes I feel as though I need more guidance. Someone mentioned a question about an overdose. Well, I got a question about whether life was worth living in a bad family situation. I replied and said, "Absolutely! You still have to show the world what you're about. Contact a crisis center for more help." I just hope my answer was sufficient.

Otherwise, ChaCha is great. I am awaiting my first payment and I love the flexibility.
