OT: ChaCha

Go to the chacha forums in the guides section. There's two different topics along the lines of "share what you have in clippings" and "firefox add-ons." Both completely explain in those threads, plus give you ideas of what to add.

Tried to get the guaranteed cash for both 25 question periods today and missed by 3-4 questions each time!! I couldn't stay logged in continually since my son is up and about. I'm not even gonna attempt the 50 question period. Though I might go for the last one since he'll be in bed for the night by then. :sad2:

After lurking in this thread for a couple of weeks, I finally took the plunge and signed up for ChaCha.. unfortuanately I failed the compatibility assessment :sad1: I guess my question is what next? Do I have to wait a certain period before trying again?
TIA

I am so frustrated! I am only getting queries about once every 5-10 minutes! Anyone else having this issue? I even cleared cookies and rebooted my computer. I was getting them one after another last night!

It's the contests and everyone trying to make their weekly 200 top guide quota. Did you set up any keywords? Catergories aren't working yet, but they're still using the keyword system.

Thanks for the tip about the add ons. I added the clipping add on and it helps tremendously. I'm still trying to figure out the bookmarks though.

I only have about 8 more answers before I hit 50. What do you all think of this bonus system? I like it better than doing the 130.

I like it better too. I made the $2.50 from 11-2 and 2-5. I'm about 10 away from 50 for the $5.00.

Woo-hoo! I made 95% on the compatiblity test! I'm reading the handbook now. Any last minutes tips before I take the test? I'm really really nervous.

I do have keywords set up. I am now getting queries about once per minute, which is better, but nowhere near as fast as yesterday!

I also like it better, doesn't seem so overwhelming so I'm more likely to try instead of the last two times I gave up because questions were too slow (I didn't want to be on all night).

What about bookmarks are you having a hard time with? I organized mine in folders like jokes, relational, conversational, and have the sources to match my clippings answers. I also enabled the "side bar" in FF (under view>side bar>bookmarks).

Read EVERYTHING you can first. There are several more KB articles giving info about how to answer certain questions.
-You have up to 10 minutes to answer a question before you time out (and sometimes you don't, so keep going until you get an answer).
-use google during your test if you're more familiar with it. Their quicklinks page takes some getting used to so it will slow you down at first.
-once you get a question, you don't HAVE to click "find answer" (which brings up their quicklinks page) to start typing. Search for your answer in another tab, highlight what you want, then hit the "use as source" button up top. It will automatically throw you into the answer field so you can start typing with the text you had highlighted.
-when you get a question, skim the history on the right so you know the context of the question (helpful for "more" questions). You can click "detials" to read it in detail and see the sources previous guides cited (also helpful for "more" inquiries). Above the history on the right is the IS's original question. Sometimes the expeditor rewords the question in a weird way, so I reread the original to make sure I understand what the IS is looking for.
-There is a check box way under "send" that says "set to away after this question" in case you need to step away from your computer during your test. You can also manually set yourself to "away" in the upper left corner immediately after you log into the universe (or between questions). Lastly, if you happen to be set on "available" when another question comes available, but you just can't answer it, don't click "ok"! Eventually the universe will log you out. This will not count against you.
- Try to do about 15 questions. I went over 10 minutes 3 times during my test and it didn't count those toward the test. I had to do 13.

Stupid question here -- what are "clippings".
I looked at the forum and even searched, but couldn't find a good answer.
I need a Clippings for Dummies answer.

I have a lot of things bookmarked and I just started reading about the add ons.

I sure would like to pick up my pace. I average around 2 to 3 minutes for a question.

It's an add-on for FF called "clippings." It allows you to save common answers and taglines so when you are in the answer field, you right click, go to clippings, and up comes whatever you have put in there. I put in my favorite jokes, Magic 8 Ball answers, love advice answers, chacha FAQ answers, etc that I repeat frequently. There's a thread called "share what you have in clippings" under the "sources and FF add-ons" folder on the forums. Gives you ideas, tells you how to use it, and gives you many clippings you can copy.

In the beginning of the tests you can just try again with a new email address, once they have your soc, you can't.

I have am a guide on ChaCha but haven't done it for awhile due to a lot of stuff at home. But, right before I stopped getting on every morning I received my card and my pin. But, I feel stupid I cannot find my "pay me now" button. Is there something else I need to be doing in order for that to happen? I thought once I received the card that was it and I had done it all?:confused3

Thank-you for the tips!! I was too nervous to take it last night. :scared: I think I'll re-read everything and then take the test tomorrow while the kids are at school.

So I just finished my first week, over 200 answers, when will I get my first report to let me know my accuracy and such? TIA!

:headache: Is there just a glitch tonight? I'm using the link they sent in the email and I can't sign in. I even went so far as to click "forgot password" and got a message that my account can't be found. :confused3

I beginning to feel like they don't want me afterall. I was going to study up for the test but I guess not.
