Hi All
Another co-sleeping, baby wearing, bf-ing family here.
DD #1 nursed until she was 3. I planned to do baby led weaning but she just never showed any inclination to give it up
So I cut her back gradually and then when I became pregnant with DD#2 it just became too painful so I had to cut her off
Then DD#2 came along and co-sleeping became a challenge. The queen sized bed was not big enough for all of us (DD is another sideways sleeper) So DH slept with DD in her room until she became comfy enough to stay there for most of the night by herself.
I am definately a proponent of nursing as along as it is comfortable and enjoyable for baby and mom. BUT be careful about their teeth. DD always nursed herself to sleep and she liked to fall asleep with a mouthful of milk in her mouth. (We could tell because she would turn over well after falling asleep and a trickle would escape.) Anyways even though we did brush her teeth, we apparently did not do a good enough job and her teeth were swimming in that milk at night and in our DD's case that resulted in 14 crowns and 2 fillings this summer
So with DD #2 we are going to be much more careful about cleaning her teeth after every meal and we will probably move her away from nursing herself to sleep as soon as we can. Not everyone would have this problem, but if you have cavity prone people in your family just be careful and take your little one to see a dentist as soon as possible. DD did not go until she was 3 (at the suggestion of our family dentist) She probably should have been seen at least a year earlier and some of this might have been preventable. Don't mean to get soapbox-y...just hope to help someone avoid the same situation.

Even requests for PMs for trip reports (not mentioning where, just that they are on another site) gets changed.

I think you get extremes on any board and I think sometimes the most extreme people there talk the loudest. ("I am never taking my kid to a dentist because they are not natural", "my kid got a virus from my dumb friend who vaccinated her kids" are a few examples that come to mind.) The great majority are more reasonable. I think the extreme posts happen most likely because they don't feel they can in real life so it is place to be among those might understand. I get that. I think most people there are very nice though.
I just try to keep my mouth shut about it and keep an open mind.
