DH will be turning 38 this spring and has had a hard year. I was thinking of doing something really special this year, like maybe a surprise party with family and friends. Looking for ideas! :thumbsup2

I haven't planned one for my DH but DH planned one for my 30th! He sent out invites that said "Let's celebrate the 2nd annual 29th birthday!" It was on our birthday (yes, we share the same birthday!) at a favorite restaurant. I really thought we were just going out for a family dinner to celebrate together and when I walked in the room there were 50 of my friends and family there! It was so sweet and amazing. :)

This year he turns 30 and I had wanted to plan a surprise trip for him (since he told me he didn't want a party). Originally he didn't know anything about the plans for our trip but I'm not good at keeping a secret (whoops!) so he knows now. We were thinking about doing a Vegas trip sans kidlet but decided to change it up and now we are going back to Disney instead.

I planned a surprise birthday for DH for his 30 and as revenge he had one for me.....I was 8 1/ months preg!! and he made me clean the house and scrub the floor. Oh yeah he paid for that.

Maybe do something special with a romantic night out or tickets to his sports team.

We just did this in August for DH's 40ith. We were supposed to go to Disney...booked and paid for. I got sick. I was in the hospital and came out on August 5th. I decided to try to have a birthday celebration for him. I got some help from friends, ordered food, decorated a friend's house in a Red Sox theme, and emailed invites to about 85 people. 9 days later, there were 75 people decked out in their best Sox gear yelling surprise. It was great! As it turns out, we went to Disney for my birthday in December. What a change in events! Good luck!

I just had a surprise 40th for DH on Jan. 1.
He had no clue. We had it at a neighbors and have friends
park at a nearby hotel and shuttled them over. DH came and saw not a car and did not think a thing of going to the neighbors. Then everyone surprised him. He really was surprised, too. It is lots of fun. Keep costs low by making sloppy joes, chips.... Some of our friends even brought things. LOTS OF FUN!! :flower3:

I surprised DH with a 30th birthday party. He knew we had friends coming over but he didn't realize how many people were coming over. He was surprised. We had a friend call and say he ran out of gas and couldn't get a hold of his wife. So Lane went and during the time he was gone everyone showed up. He really didn't want to go but my friend who had come into town for the party and I convinced him that we had everything under control for the party and to go help.

He was kind of mad at me but was OK with it. He will now be turning 40 in April and there is no surprise party in the works. Instead we're going to WDW!!! I might have some surprises up my sleeve anyhow :)
