We will be at The World Nov 13-22 and was wondering if by chance we'd get to see the Osbourne lights while we're there...

I know it's before Thanksgiving, but was just curious and hoping.

Unfortunetly you are out of luck. The dates for The Osbourne Family Lights are November 24 - January 2, 2004.

You will however be there during the 29th Annual Festival of the Masters... - http://www.wdwinfo.com/downtown/FestivalMasters/festival_masters.htm#chat-festivalmasters

I have never been to this event but have heard it is quite interesting and impressive. This is "Disney's acclaimed annual showcase of art, culture and cuisine" which is held at DTD/WS. Check out the web page provided and see if it is something you may be interested in...

Don't lose hope - just keep an eye on the boards.

It's very possible that they will have some type of "preview" for annual pass holders (or other group) before Thanksgiving. Often they will have a "soft" opening after the preview - that means the attraction is open to park guests before the actual official date.

Anyway, you may be lucky, so be sure to check when you arrive and keep an eye on the DIS to see if there will be a "preview" of some kind this year.

Best wishes -

I thought I read somewhere (can't remember where now) that there was already a date being advertised for an Annual Passholder's preview. They've always had one the weekend before Thanksgiving (but that was before they changed the location).

In the past 3 or 4 years we were always able to see the Osborne Lights before it's official opening on the Monday before Thanksgiving Day (we don't have an AP). I'm not sure if it's open before Monday or not. Maybe someone reading this knows which days AP holders were able to preview it and when the soft opening began for the rest of the viewers.

I just read on this thread that someone heard that the AP preview is on the 18th (a Friday). Does that mean it is only on the 18th and the soft opening for everyone starts on the 19th??????? Or is the AP preview usually the whole weekend?????

We were just there, 4th - 15th, and while they obviously weren't on, we did get to see some of them being put up.

We saw them on in 2002 and really enjoyed them.

But seeing them being put up gave me a new appreciation for the work that goes into it. I get frustrated enough decorating our porch and tree - I can't imagine putting up all those lights. They also had some of the Christmas decorations up. We saw the apartment windows decorated, snowmen out, boots sitting by doors ... really cute!

Yes Annual Passholder's preview is on Nov 19.:thewave: :thewave:

DH and I will be there Nov 13 leaving on 21st. I was hoping for a soft opening of the Osborne before we left, we are not AP holders. If the AP's get to see it the 19th does that mean others might be able to see it the 20th? Hope hope hope!!!

Darn! A couple of years ago my DH and I were at WDW in December. It rained everyday we were at MGM and we postponed seeing the Osborne Lights until our last night there. We had dinner reservations at the Brown Derby and planned on walking through the Lights after dinner. Unfortunately dinner that night took an extremely long time. There was some kind of problem at the restaurant, the waiter never explained what, but it took us 3 hours to get our food and eat. We explained to the waiter that we really wanted to see the lights before leaving as it was our last night. He told us to go ahead and go back, security would let us. Well, to make a long story short, the security man was not very happy. He allowed us to see the entrance, but that was all.

We have planned on going back in December, but the last couple of years there has been a good package price but the latest we could go is November! I was really hoping that this year we might have been late enough to catch a soft opening, but looks like I'm out of luck again!:(

Thanks for the information!

Don't give up hope. We saw them during the week of Thanksgiving in 2001 and 2002 before the 'official' opening date and we do not have AP's.

If the AP preview is around the 19th, I'll bet they will be on before the 24th for the public. Just my opinion!

Thanks,
Mav

Thanks for the hope! We will be at Disney starting the 13th and leaving late afternoon on the 21st. I've got my fingers crossed that somehow we'll be able to see them. After all, I believe in the Mouse and pixie dust! If we don't get to see them, well, next year we'll just have to go in December!:earsgirl:

Goodness! I haven't even left for this trip (it is just 6 days and 9 hours till we get on the plane and 9 days 9 hours till we are at the Magic Kingdom) and I'm already planning the next one. Think I've got it bad!:Pinkbounc
