Osborne Lights-Dates Posted

I sent an email to Walt Disney World asking about the start of the Osborne Lights and received this reply:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Traditionally starting at Thanksgiving, the Walt Disney World Resort
will celebrate the holidays with more than 1,400 decorated trees, 7
million lights and plenty of garland, ribbon and holiday carols.
Returning holiday traditions will include parades at the Magic Kingdom
Park, Holidays Around the World and the Candlelight Processional at
Epcot.

We also encourage you to visit the "Special Events" section of our Web
site, closer to the fall season, for updated information. You will be
given a listing of events and activities currently scheduled to take
place in our theme parks and resort areas.

Not much information! Oddly, the reply did not even mention the Osborne Lights LOL!

Oh Robo you are awesome! Constantly keeping us dis-ers up on the info we look for!

In anycase, at this point I'm just happy we've got the park hours! When all the times and listings for the holidays come up it just gives me another thing to plan! You know, my trip is still over 5 months away and over half of it is already planned! I don't really feel like I'm in a rush for this info (except to make an ADR for a Candlelight Processional Package!). I'm just excited to get going and see everything!

This was my reply from Disney when I asked then about the dates of the Osbourne Light Show...

Better than mine. Mine on Saturday informed me Park Hours weren't posted which was a lie!

WooHoo! A new place to hang with my fellow obsessive Disney planners!:dance3:

Thanks for starting the thread, Robo!:thumbsup2

I'm hoping and praying the Lights start on the weekend of the 8th; I'm there through the 16th but my family from Jersey is leaving earlier and I really hope they get to see them - I've been raving about the Osbourne Lights for years!:santa:

Please, please, please start on the 8th!!!!

Thanks for this Robo!! I don't know why the other sit is assuming or stating that the Osborne Lights will be starting on the 28th of November.

Unless it comes out of Disney's mouth (or on their website) please don't believe it. :thumbsup2

The other site isnt assuming anything. It is owned and operated by Disney. So it is out of Disneys mouth. I am not saying its not a error because it could be. But it the official website that if you walk into AAA or any agency and book a disney trip with them, that is where they make the booking. Often information is given to agents first to help us make sales.

Yea, i thought that was kinda weird, we asked the same thing, and got to different answers.... atleast this still gives us some hope!! :)

I called Disney last week & a CM told me they were beginning on November 12th. Now I have since learned that was the start date for 2007 so if anything it should be close.

We are checking out on the 15th & are really hoping to go over on the 13th to see the Osborne Lights. :worship:

Please, please Disney...this is probably the only year my parents will ever be there, and DW and I would really love for them to be able to see the Osborn Lights! They'll be there Nov 9-15, and we all plan on being at DHS on the 12th. So hopefully they'll be up by then!

I feel all your pain. We were there in 05 and left on Nov 5th. All the lights were there but we were told we would JUST miss them that they would start the NEXT week. So when planning THIS trip we decided to go the FOLLOWING week so we could hit Food and Wine AND see the lights. Well when planning I went on the boards and someone told me to make SURE I hit them to go the week after which would be the week of the 17th. Well then I decided to make DOUBLY sure why not go Thanksgiving week since my kids have that whole week off school and by then I KNOW they should be up and then we could catch the holidays around the world and Candlelight Procession on the other end.

So that is what we did. I was really nervous about going at such a busy time as we have always travelled during off season but I liked my kids not having to miss so much school.

Plus that way I KNEW for sure I would be guaranteed to see the lights, get to go to MVMCP and see the Christmas stuff.

Now THIS! It ALL started with the Osborne Lights. THAT was the MAIN reason we wanted to go back in 05! Everything else came later. My ONE and only DHS day is the 26th which SURELY you say we should be able to see the lights. But if they don't do them till the 28th even "I" won't get to see them as on the 28th we aren't going to any parks because it is the day after thanksgiving and we didn't want to be anywhere NEAR any parks. We had planned to golf and have dinner at Artist's Point. So I guess my question is now. If we don't go to DHS during the day, do we have a chance in you know what of even getting IN to that park later in the day to see the lights if that is the DEBUT day?

We were thinking about skipping our dinner and going in the evening but do you guys think if that is the first night that the park would be to capacity and it would be closed?

My mom was thinking we should switch days and we should have our off day be on the 26th and go to DHS on that Friday but honestly I didn't want to go all day on the day after thanksgiving to ANY park.

I am so torn now I don't know what to do. Plus I don't have an ADR for that day and if I wait till closer to when they release it any ADRS that MIGHT be left will be gone by then. AHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

And we can't go AFTER cuz we are going to Epcot on Sat for Candlelight PRocession (our only day to do that) and MK on Sunday for our MVMCP which is already paid and we have CRT dinner already paid for.

We do have one last day open which is Monday but we wanted to go to Ice at the Beverly Palms that night and we could not do that now if we had to do Osborne Lights in the evening.

I wish Disney would make up it's mind.

It makes it SO hard to plan anything!

Also this is our one and only holiday trip too so if we don't see it now we probably never will.

Yep! I'm still crossing my fingers! Hate waiting for anything so this isn't good. It's bad enough I've still got 20 weeks (or 139 days to be precise) till I leave for Florida! This is the first year I haven't had 2 trips (one in May and one in September) and its officially killing me!

I am also hoping somewhere between Nov. 8th and Nov. 15th as the start date. We go home on the 16th. :goodvibes

YIKES!!!
I am really hoping we all get to see them this year!!!

I have a feeling they won't be on until the 28th..... Just hoping they have some previews earlier in month.
Right now I am learning to not expect anything from Disney until I get there but it's hard b/c it's 5 months away.

I hope that for everyone that planned their trip in hopes to see the lights, get to see them. I know that if we had planned on going eariler in November, I would be slightly ticked if the lights were not on.

I foolishly booked our trip for the same week as last year, thinking once again we'd miss F&W and SSW crowds, and get to see the Osborne Lights before the Thanksgiving crowds started arriving. I even chose that week over September's free dining and lower prices because we enjoyed it SO much last year, and my DD really wanted to take Grandma to see them, which is what started the ball rolling and led me to decide to bring my parents this year.

What is it they say about the best laid plans? :rolleyes1
