Orthodontics question.. when first payment is made

You have a right to all of your medical records, doctor, dental or otherwise, and x-rays are part of your medical record.

I was one of the ones to suggest a second opinion on your other post, and I would like to suggest one thing further...can you check with the Better Business Beaureu (or something similar) and see if these docs...hubby/wife have any complaints against them? If not, I would consider making one if you can....AFTER you get copies of your xrays! It definately sounds like they are running some kind of racket. I would never, never, never, pay for anything until services are rendered!

Orthodontists Payment plans really irk the beejeebers out of me.

My child needed braces. Dr. told us it would take 3 to 4 years to fix his bite BUT office manager told us payment plan was for TWO years.

Told the office manager I had no intention of paying for work prior to being completed. She then told me that she would have to discuss it with the Dr, but that was their policy and he would not budge. Told her fine, then I would pay for what he had done (retainer made) and find another Dr.

Dr called me into his office and told me this is how it is done, I didn't understand, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I asked him if he often paid for things before he recieved them? Knowing he just built a new home, I asked if he paid his contractor in full before completion? He just looked at me.

I paid half up front , a quarter 2 years in and the balance on completion.
