Ornament Exchange for this next year....

I just wanted to thank you again for all your hard work with the OE. I enjoyed it the last couple years. I can also relate to your frustrations. Several years ago, I managed a large apartment complex and thought it would be fun for all the children to have a big Easter egg hunt. Well, it was fun for the kids, but some of the parents had to ruin it by giving me grief about "little Johnny got more eggs than my Joey." and "little Susy shouldn't have won that prize because her mother was giving her signals about where the eggs were...." I stopped having the hunt after the third year and instead started just passing out candy eggs to the kids that came to the office. I felt bad and kind of regretted letting a couple "adults?" ruin it for the kids.........I got over it though.;)

Thanks for all you've done!

Chris, give me the name(s), I'll take care of it!

Seriously, you've been outstanding doing this 2 years running and, 2001 was pretty awesome, wouldn't you say? ;) (I got a free lunch anyway!) :)

I hope you'll reconsider, like you did for 2002 but, if not, I truly understand.

In all honesty, when I send my exchanges off, I feel complete. IF/WHEN I receive an exchange, I feel very fortunate. Very, very fortunate actually, since the people I've received anything from have been wonderfully great people. I have a fabulous collection of ornaments from the DISers!

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, CHRIS!! {{HUGS}}

(now, get me those names) ;)

I have never participated in any exchange here but I want to give you a big {{{HUG}}} for the work you did with the OE.

I always regret not signing up for the OE, after the fact. The first two years, I enjoyed reading and seeing pictures of everyone's ornaments. This year, to spare me from kicking myself for not signing up again, I did not read any of the "received/sent" threads. So, I am very sorry to hear that there have been problems.

What you did took a lot of your time and energy and love. Retire from coordinating this exchange. But, please, don't let anyone's attitude blur your vision of the goodness and happiness your work brought so many others... even those of us who did not participate in exchanging but only read about it here on the Community Board.

May the happiness you brought others, come back ten-fold to you.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had a problem.

It is a challenge to track others and find out what is going on sometimes.
You have done a great job, don't let others bring you down...

I may consider doing it... organizing the OE, please PM the good, the bad and the ugly.... I like complete honesty before I know what I am getting myself into.

Chris, I am truly sorry that some people have caused you grief, you have done such a wonderful job with the last two OE's, well above and beyond what is required in my opinion. I don't understand why people would blame the organizer, you can't control what the sendee's do, but I can understand their frustration when they don't receive, but still...don't blame the messenger. The amount of time you must have spent and still spend on this project is phenominal and you deserve all of the accolades given. {{{HUGS}}} to you for the problems you have had to endure.

Chris - I just wanted to chime in with my thanks also for organizing the exchange. I literally spent no time on the CB until after you posted the notice about the exchange on the other boards (I usually lurk on the DCL and theme parks boards). Now I check in every day to see what's going on in the world.

I've coordinated Sunday School classes and special events for the kids at the churches we've attended for the last 10+ years, so I know what it's like when someone commits to something and then doesn't follow through. Besides the people that regale you with the not-so-subtle negative comments, you also deal with the personal feelings that you failed somewhere along the line.

I thought that you went above and beyond in your coordination efforts. I didn't see anything else that you could have done. It must be extremely difficult dealing with people that you can't "see", and I can see the point a previous poster had about keeping a list of those that didn't follow through on their commitments.

I also sympathize with those that didn't receive anything. I know how excited I was to shop/send and receive mine! If it would be of any help, I'd be willing to take an additional name and send to one of those that never received an ornament. It would actually be an interesting challenge, considering that all the stores are loaded with Valentine's stuff right now. Maybe if a few others would be willing to do the same, we could sprinkle some pixie dust on those disappointments! After all "what would Walt do?"....
