Orlando Stroller Rental vs Disney Strollers

I've just noticed that the double stroller at Orlando Stroller Rental is at least $100 cheaper than renting a Disney Stroller.

Has anyone compared the two? Is the Orlando stroller still easy to push with a six and five year old in it? Because my kids are 6 and 5, and they're kinda big for their age, and I know I'd be right at the weight limit for that stroller.

So I guess I'm wondering if it's worth the extra money to rent at Disney, because I know the strollers are still easy to push, even with 100 or 110 pounds worth of kids in it?

Advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm a single mom going to Disney alone with the two kids next month, and I just lost my job, so I'm trying to cut back wherever possible, spending wise. I want to still keep the trip, because it'll be a much-needed bright spot in our lives.

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

I looked into the Disney strollers and eventually opted to go with Orlando Stroller Rental. Shannon was fabulous on the phone. Several people have posted reviews about the strollers with photos of their children. Everyone comments about how easy they are to fold for going on and off the buses. From what I have read here, the new double strollers from Disney are not good. They are small and longer older children do not fit in them as well.

In May my youngest will turn 2 and will have a great place for a nap, while my 5 year old will also be comfortable if he wants to rest.

Here is the review thread with photos from another member. Good luck making your decision.

Hi!
I highly recommend the double stroller from orlando stroller. I have a 2 and 5 year old and we used it this last Jan and LOVED IT. We were sad to say good bye to it at the end of our trip.

It is light weight and moves very smooth. The stroller at the parks look very uncomfortable. The orlando stroller is soft and moves great. I think that it will be perfect for your two kids and you...

A great perk is that they drop it off and pick it up from your resort.:)

To me, it would depend if you had your own car to drive to the parks - getting two kids and a stroller onto a bus would be a pain in the neck, especially if the bus was crowded and you couldn't get seats together (or seats at all). If you have a car, bring a stroller.

If I was staying onsite without a car, with a 5 and 6 year old, I'd pass on the stroller for MK and DHS and rent at the park for EPCOT and maybe AK (depending on how long a day and the heat). The beauty of going with just your two kids is that you can go at their pace.

Thank you all for the input.

Not getting a stroller for me is absolutely not an option. My DS, who is five, is autistic. I'd feel like I'd need to hold their hands at all times if I didn't have them in a stroller, and besides being tired and crabby after a bit of walking, I'd be constantly worried that one or the other would run off on me or be taken or whatever.

As the only adult, I'd have to use my hands at some point, whether to pay for food or whatever. And I think even for punctuality's sake with the dining ressies, I'd need a stroller for the times when I needed to pick up the pace.

The main question I had regarding the Orlando stroller is whether they'd still be easy to push with say 110 pounds of cargo?

I know it'd be a pain to haul the stroller on and off the buses (I am not renting a car) but if it was easy to fold and easy to push, I'd be willing to make the sacrifice of hauling the stroller if I was saving $100 on the rental.

I'm staying at All Star Sports. I have stayed value before with a stroller and it was a HUGE pain, and I have since been convinced that renting at WDW is the way to go. But between the expense and the change in the size of the strollers, I'm hesitating.

I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought if I hadn't lost my job. But without the extra income, I'm just trying to cut back where I can without sacrificing the trip.

Thanks so much, and please add your thoughts and suggestions.

These are my kids. DD is 6 and DS is 5.

for me the orlando stroller rental was great my ds was 5 but only 35 pounds and dd2 was 25 pounds. it was a breeze to push. i would see if you could find one in a local babies rus or bye bye baby and try it out. hth

I emailed the Orlando Stroller Rental place and asked about my concerns.

I also called Disney to ask about the size of the new strollers and they gave me a few answers:

"uhhhh, we have new strollers?"

"They're not THAT much smaller.. A little narrower by the feet, maybe, and taller, but not smaller."

"You can try them when you get here, and if you don't like it, you can just not rent one"

LOL great.

I used Orlando Stroller Rentals last Sept and it was awesome!! My kids were 3 and 5 and weighed about 80 combined weight. I could push the stroller forward with 1 finger. No kidding! I showed my husband (as a joke) and begged for him to buy the citi mini even though the kids are older.
