Orlando Sanford

I was wondering if anyone has flown into this airport before? We normally fly into MCO but I found some good flight rates to Orlando Sanford. Is the airport farther from the resorts? Are there towncar and shuttle services there? Is it a smaller airport? Is there any draw backs to flying into this airport? Any info would be appreciated. TIA

We flew into Sanford once. It is a smaller airport. Someone told me they thought it was a former military air station. But, could be wrong. It is very pleasant. But, it is almost twice as far from WDW as MCO! We booked TT to get to WDW. There were 6 of us traveling and it cost $180 r/t, before tip. We did book a van but they showed up in a stretch limo!! It took us about 45-50 mins. to get to the resort.
