Any suggestions on non chain restaurants to go to while staying in Orlando, I have a 5 year old so nothing too fancy!!!

What area are looking around for? You have the international drive area and then theres the 192 area thats just south of the Disney main entrance.

There's tons of places to eat up and down Idrive. A lot of chains but them again a lot of chains that may not be in your area and are new. Theres a local sports bar type place called Ale house over by Wonderworks that's pretty good. Also I would check outthose magazines and coupon books you see in the hotel lobbies, they usually have some good deal. My wife an once tried an Angus Steakhouse across from Wet N Wild with a coupon we found and we were very pleasantly surprised on how good the food was.

I secon both Miller's Ale House (there are many Orlando locations so it is a chain) and the Black Angus Steakhouse(I believe there are a couple locations of this as well although it is just a local business). Both are simple and inexpensive. Also, The Village Inn is quite tasty, don't let the less than impressive appearance fool you the place is very good with simple well prepared food. Breakfast is delicious.

kitchen ranges in America in every French, Continental, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. Add to that more Chinese, Cuban, German, and Mexican. Down home barbecue is easy to find, as are locations for Delicatessen, Pizzeria, health - Natural foods, seafood and fresh fish in nearby waters in this Central Florida stronghold. Dinner Show - Theatre dining is especially popular in Orlando, with the possibility to eat outside all year. As for the position in a city driven by tourism, the key word is "friendly." Restaurant Guide Orlando Guide is part of Metro Orlando, offering guides to events, shopping, nightlife, hotels, attractions, and most of Central Florida.

Also they are building a Dave and Busters on I-Drive where the old Race Rock place used to be. I'm not sure when it will be open or if it will be open for your trip but what little kid wouldn't love that place, I'm a big kid and love it there lol. They have the eat and play card for $15 and includes your meal and tokens.
